Great professional video. However, a few important points to add on next one which help teaching are: 1- head down before starting exercise in order to avoid water in the nose. 2- only two fingers on top skirt of the mask as thump may lift the mask too high and not clear completely. One other good tip is to clear the mask with no water in it until mastering.

I was recently told to not lift the bottom of the mask but to just lift my head and breathe out but I can't clear the mask! When I learned scuba 30 years ago, I was able to easily clear my mask by lifting the bottom of the mask a bit and blowing out. Now I'm pushing against the top, keeping the bottom sealed and breathing and breathing out of my nose and it's not working! Arrrggghhh.

Since you exhale through your nose to clear the water from your mask, there should be hardly any water getting into your nose unless you're inhaling through your nose at some point. Some people have trouble *not* inhaling through their noses, and it takes practice (on dry land) to get it ingrained. Sometimes people have to "scrunch" their noses to close their nostrils. Just keep practicing until you no longer panic when a little water gets in. Good luck!

Shouldn't really be a need to be lifting the mask off the face at the bottom, just apply pressure at the top, head down and blow raising head. Many divers have problems for years with mask clearing because they were taught to pull it away at the bottom, but never got whether it was a few mm or a few cm

I struggled with this some during my OWC certification two weeks ago, Then this week while diving in roatan I has a partial and just used some light pressure on the lens and it pushed the water out with just a little air from my nose. I didn't need to lift the mask or anything. I will continue practicing though. Thanks for the suggestion...I am also looking for another mask this is my second style and its better but still not ideal. Had some water leak from the top this time at 60 feet and I have no hair and had a good seal originally was strange.

@alrobinette3475 I'm doing my OW next week and had troubled with full face and mask replace. I'm terrified for doing it at depth. I had to surface when I did it in the pool twice because I inhaled water through my nose.

just look top and brethe air out with nose is ok, why do you need to make the mask full of water to increase the burden of exhaust water

I don't recommend anyone to lift your mask while clearing the mask, I thinks better way is keep your hand on top frame of the mask breath out from Norse. But I thinks PADI knows better

In cold water environment with 7mm gloves and a 5mm hood, students tend to till the head too much and push the mask of the face and head. So it depends where you dive. All good, clear water.

Depends, but you don’t recommend to anyone? Ok thanks! I press the top or tilt it one hand or two hands.. Works well if you have practiced well... So I recommend to anyone: practice
