How To Manual Swap a g37

In this video I will explain how to swap your car's automatic transmission with a manual trans. I will go over all the parts you will need, how to wire the clutch pedal, and a break down on some of the mods that you will need to do.
Big shout out to Z1. I have picked up about 60% of all the parts I have needed to do the swap from them. z1motorsports....

@@ProlbuildsThe transmission from the 2008 g35 sedan/ Nissan 350z and g37/ 370z are the exact same. They both use the jk41b instead of the cd009 like DE 350z and g35. I know 3 people personally who have done a vq35hr swap in their g35/ 350z and all of them told me that the 07-08 350z/ g35 sedan 6 speed is the exact same thing as the g37 and 370z. The transmission itself is a slight bit bigger and uses a completely different bolt pattern than the cd009. Yes they’re almost the same in terms of gear location and things of that nature, but the hr g35/ 350z uses the jk41b as the 370z/ g37.

Did you found how to fix battery drain? I just didn't wire the clutch pedal , my be it will help , need too try it later. This is only problem i have after the manual swap . Other things are perfect using it as Daily car Year and half perfectly. I used oem slave ,clutch and act street flywheel. Did it with all automatic stuff , its way simpler, yes i have the " press brake " on the dash . Thanks for a lot of information to work with .

Awesome! Good feedback, thanks for commenting. Yeah, try out the switch, maybe it has something to do with it. I don't have a draw. My battery seems to be fine. You probably already know how to test for this, but here are some tips just in case you want to try them. To check for a battery draw, also known as a parasitic draw, you can use a multimeter set to milliamps: 1-Prepare the vehicle: Make sure the battery is fully charged and turn off the vehicle. 2-Set up the multimeter: Turn the dial to DC amps on the highest setting. 3-Disconnect the battery cable: Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery. 4-Connect the multimeter leads: Connect the positive lead to the negative battery cable and the negative lead to the negative battery post. 5-Monitor the current draw: If there is a draw, it will show on the multimeter. A normal parasitic draw is usually between 50 and 85 milliamps in newer cars and less than 50 milliamps for older cars. If the current draw is higher than this, it could be a problem and should be checked. 6-Find the source of the draw: You can try pulling fuses one by one until the amperage draw drops. This can help you identify the circuit responsible for the draw. However, on newer vehicles, pulling and reinstalling a fuse could accidentally "wake up" a module. Thanks again!

@@Prolbuilds great, if you don't have any flex, then my RJM clutch pedal with Tilton clutch master should not have any, since its mounted from the inside and pushes against the sidewall with adapter plate its mounted to rather then pulling sidewall with two bolts from the outside like oem does, right? Also got the manual engine harness, but not planning on taking out the motor, is it doable to swap it in the engine bay? The way I see it, it will be much easier just to use tcm connector and swap pin 140 to 114 on my manual bcm.

  • @Prolbuilds

The RJM pedal is a nice setup! It's on our bucket list for the G35. You shouldn't have any problems. I would say it's easier leaving the engine and just swapping the trans. I would have done it this way if the engine wasn't blown, lol. Along the back of the fire wall, it's a tight fit, but doable. What clutch setup are you going to use? By the selection of parts, you have listed sounds like a pretty cool build!

  • @Prolbuilds

If you use the auto ecu and bcm. The pin would be 140, even if you change the harness. The automatic ecu and bcm are still programed to see a signal from pin 140 so the car can start. If you swap out the ecu and bcm (manual) use pin 114. because the ecu and bcm are looking for the signal from that pin to start the car. I hope this helps
