This is great cosplay advice! For someone who says that they suck at tutorials, this is pretty well done.

Also I wanted to help you the Heat-transfer vinyl already has a sticky transfer tape attached to it. The transfer tape your adding on is usually for normal vinyl you would make stickers out of. I used Cricut machines my whole life pretty much the machine takes a lot of understanding a little bit of some British raging, But I'm sure you will love it when you do more crafts!
