I agree with you all. An audiophile won’t mistake a V6 for a V8 but it sounds pretty great for a V6

It'll always sound like a v6. I tried probably 6-7 different exhaust setups on an old Ford with a v6, nothing will ever make a v6 sound like a v8 except two more cyls. Dropping a lumpy cam into it helped a ton, as did true duals w headers. Best sound I managed to get with that 6 was with a cam, headers, cat delete to twin Aero Turbine mufflers - these are by far the best sounding mufflers on V6s, IMO. The trick with making these motors sound decent enough, is not a more 'open' exhaust or larger pipes ( iirc 2.5" is plenty good to like 500hp?) the trick is more baffling in the right places - errybody knows an open header or straight piped V6 sounds like shit, so MORE flow isn't always the answer. Not to mention back pressure and all that. Headers>remove cats>2.25" duel pipes >Aero Turbinesx2>dump before the rear wheel well. If you do this and use oversized pipes, the drone and echo suck, as there's now twice the space for the gasses to escape, and that makes a hollow, empty sound since the baffles within the mufflers aren't being "fully engaged" so to speak. But yeah v6=/=v8 no matter what exhaust system you create. Even the twin turbo, high horse 6s of today.... Sound like straight up dog dick. Braaaaaaapbraaaaaaaapbruuuuoh Yeah I really wanted my truck to sound better than an overweight 4 banger.

Only V6 I ever found that sounded more like a V8 after modding was the Ford/Mazda Duratec30 V6. It sounded like a 4.6L 3V with a higher redline. I personally love a V6 exhaust, but I know it's not gonna sound like my GM 5.3 V8 and set my expectations accordingly.

Facts, I have a V6 08 CTS 3.6, I did a muffler delete and put 4inch Borla tips on and it sounds good but it’s hollow and doesn’t have that V8 bark. I was thinking of adding something else to make it deeper but don’t know what.

That’s not the problem, bro American V6 engines are probably the worst type of engines you can get, especially if it comes from Dodge. 🤦🏽‍♂️ some guys buy these V6 challengers thinking they’re gonna be satisfied. these cars they are massive to have a small engines. JDM is one of the best type of 6 cylinders you can get.

If you want to get more rumble out of it similar to some of the Rams with the 3.6L you should try to add an equalizer/trumpet loop to the drivers side bank of the exhaust. It is normally added to the passengers or drivers side bank to compensate for the crossover piping on a truck or SUV to make the exhaust runs coming off of the engine equal in length since the exhaust usually is routed away from the center of the vehicle for driveshaft clearance. It gets rid of the choppy "truck" sound from the exhaust and makes it sound more like that of a sedan or coupe. Plenty of people use it on Silverados to make them sound like Corvettes, so in theory you should be able to go in the opposite direction with a Challenger to give the V6 a bit of rumble. Supercharging one with a screw or roots blower would force more air through the engine and probably make it even choppier when combined with that kind of setup.

I can't hate it sounds damn nice. I wouldn't say V8 but some people might think it or believe it. Overall it's a nice change, nice deep sound for what you paid. Now that I have a new daily and have my 2013 Charger SE mostly sitting I'm definitely going TT and an exhaust.

V8s sound different and will always. By changing the sound in your V6, you just get llama farting.

Still sounds like the pentastar engine. A lot crisper though!

My 2001 dodge ram 1500 3.9 has a resonator delete and short cherry bomb glass pack this is the best setup for to make your truck sound like a v8 although the magnum engine has bigger lobe camshafts that give it the 5.2 sound and this is coming from self experience

If you want your V6 to sound like a V8 - buy a V8 🤯

i dont know how you guys handle that over there in the US... but gasoline + insurance + taxes are much more expensive in europe. i live in germany and i gotta pay every week 120$ for gasoline for ~ 180miles :) do your math. insurance is 1200$ per year (which is cheap lol), and taxes are 500$ per year. so ~ 6000$ for gas per year + 1200$ insurance + 500$ taxes = 7700$ just to go to work :) and i dont include driving around in your free time or repair bills etc.

Cherry Bomb exhaust. Quality components on the cheap. I'm getting a glass pack as a mid resonator and a M-80 on the rear my Versa Note soon. Far less expensive than the OEM exhaust. And if you ever owna Nissan, you WILL be replacing the exhaust because honestly, their stock exhaust is rust magnet of doom.

Did you change middle exhaust too? Or just the last part of exhaust is replaced by cherry bomb?

If you add some large open headers it can get you a little closer to a V8 sound but still sounds like a v6

@@toneytone7497 why? turbo v6's are awesome. i have a 3.3 liter twin turbo that has 365 hp stock (Genesis G70). and with bolt ons and a piggyback tuner i can push up to 450 to the wheels. alfa romeo has an awesome twin turbo V6 (not to mention the best sounding). Ford fusion sport has a good twin turbo v6 too. infiniti q50's and q60's as well. theyre great engines and can hold alot of power.

I have an Alfa Romeo Giulia quad with a v6. It still sounds like a v6 even with factory baffles open

I used to love those 3a ovual racing mufflers gave my 4 cylinder cars a nice deeper sound when the exhaust warmed up. Cherry bomb Mufflers sound nice, too, but a little too quiet for my taste.

Community Update: I know how it feels to be desperate for attention. I've tried everything, too. Recently scored a cherry Toyota Corolla - 2003. Straight-piped and totally pimped it. The babes have taken note. And, quite a few dudes. Hoping to sew some wild oats. I'll keep the community posted on any success.

Yeh definitely doesn’t sound anything like the scatpacks or the RT. The start up wasn’t bad but the deepness and rumble wasn’t there with the revs. Even with the more expensive exhaust set ups it’s the same thing. They will make it louder but the revs and cruising will sound similar as this but a little more bass.

It flows better than factory exaust so as long as you make the intake side flow better it will add performance.

If you're not worried about power and want to get that sound, you need to fab up headers that have uneven lengths for each cylinder on both banks. That changes the pulse spacing enough to give it more of that cross plane crank V8 sound.

Half of these peeps hating on V6 challenger dont even own one themselves.

Cherry bomb isnt a muffler btw. Its a resonator. Theyre meant to deepen the sound of ur muffler. And also in order to make power gains from exhaust, it has to be a full exhaust with a diameter that goes along with ur exhaust port size, valve size, and cam. Majority of the time ppl get an improvement by adding full exhaust or removing a restrictive muffler. But unless ur building ur exhaust based on ur engine, ur not getting optimum gains. Suprisingly we have found that its not always the largest diameter that makes the most power. Take some time, and dig into that info, and u will know more than ur friends and ppl at car meets ;) Sounds good tho!

A Cherry Bomb IS a muffler. They have been mufflers since 1968.

Sounds like a V6. Sounds just like my Jeep Cherokee 3.2 Pentastar with a muffler delete. Sounds rly good at high RPMs and when driving but sounds like a ricy V6 at low RPMs and on the cold start. The Hemi has a way meaner roar.

Ford makes a deeper sounding V6 than Dodge imo I had 3.7 and 3.8 Mustangs and the 3.8 had a rly deep rumble with a flowmaster on it.

Bro owned a hemi 5.7 modified to the T . And this is and definitely sounds like a V6 and will always be a V6 . Sold my hemi for a Chrysler 300 V6 for family reasons and also own a sport bike ( for if I want to go really fast) but I promise no matter how hard you try you will never make a V6 sound like a V8

I changed my exhaust on my 370Z here in California only to get pulled over and I have to see the state referee and I have to put back on the stock exhaust because it sounds too much like Godzilla

tbh it does sound like a gritty v6 which sounds really nice almost like how a v8 pops which id dig and i hate v6 engines but theres no way to get your v6 identical to v8 sound just spend the ten extra grand and get the v8

It’s easy to make a V-6 sound like it like a V-8 but that’s not it you need to run both your exhaust pipes to one 4 inch magna flow muffler in there. You have it one V6 or sounds like a V-8 not as loud, but does sound good
