Really cool DIY winder! There’s some bespoke stuff there tho isn’t there - the holder for the pickup is custom machined. Great idea. And the parts list is kind of you too.

I built a pickup winder using an Arduino micro controller and 2 Nema 17 stepper motors and 2 drivers with a touch screen for the user interface, I 3D printed a lot of the constuctional parts, the Arduino enables me to set the diameter of the wire and the number of winds, by setting the wires diameter I can get a much more accurate winding so that the wires are laid next to each other correctly to achieve the required capacitance, this is achieved by the wire being moved left to right by the second stepper motor as it is wound at the correct speed. Once the variables are set I just press start and the pickup is wound and stops at the required number of winds. My first winder was built from one of those old manual drills and was painfully! I either 3|D print my bobbins or cut them from highly figured wood on my CNC.

probably be eazier to have a foot operated controller , then you have both hands free to work the wire should be eazy enough by installing a stereo jackplug in place of the pot and set a guitar volum pedal on the ground with a stereo lead in between , not sure if you need a linear or logaritmic pot but you find that out by trying prolly be a good idea to put sumting heavy inside the base of it , perhabs a piece of a brick just to stop it from moving about

$ 57.00 ? I made a primitive one for under $ 10.00 by drilling two holes through a 1x2 and then using 2 furniture leveling feet and a window crank handle. Granted, it doesn't count the number of wraps, but who cares? so long as they work. Then I pot them in epoxy, using a homemade silicone mold.
