Suggestion, lock hook in fly tying vice and tie the weight on at the same time tie a weedguard on made out of Steelon leader material #30 to #50 leader.

I use split shots or clamp weights. Clamp it on the shaft, use a crimp plier to squeeze the lead across the shaft to my liking. Works like a charm.

I'm looking forward to trying this on some smaller beaver style baits and grubs for river smalls... my thinking is that the horizontal positioning will snag less in the rocks than the traditional nose-down approach. Nice innovation there so I'm gonna sub. thanks.

Try it on a Weedless NED Head Hook, meant for use in Do-It "Weedless Magnum NED Head" molds, by bending your tungsten nail weights or lead cylinder weights to match the profile of the hook you are going to use (or simply use a Weighted EWG Jig mold to mold the lead on) ..... It's magical! It comes alive while still really being weedless! Tight Lines!

@@CodySeeberFishing Have you tried using "pinch-on" line weights for your hooks yet? The ones with the slot and the ears, tag ends that fold over the line. The slots are easy to widen with a thick screwdriver for thicker wire hooks. I bought the "Pinch-On Weight Mold", by Do-It Molds, specifically for this purpose. You can get a Hover Rig up to 5/8 oz on practically any hook with this technique! I haven't tried the heavier mold version "yet". That one goes from 3/4 to 1.5 oz! WTF? Right? LOL!

@@secretbassrigs - I'd love to see somebody selling those because I don't plan on buying the materials when I can only get up to the Shenandoah once or twice a year for river fishing... I simply don't fish enough period to invest the time and money in molds (maybe when I retire). However, while the "weedless" variety are great for avoiding hang ups on wood, the round rocks and boulders are a different story as the line itself gets in between the rocks and pulls the jig head up to it--this is why I was looking at the horizontal approach of the hover style. Thanks though, I really do like that mold.

@@mike2687 agreed. rounded rocks can be much worse than rip rap. and using braid is just asking for trouble.

I've been doing it for years with Jig Hooks, cylinder weights and shrink tubing. I really like using them in hollow belly swimbaits. This is the first time I've seen someone else do it on KZread. Here's something I've been keeping a secret till I made some YT "Shorts" showing it the past couple of months. You really can fit some 90 degree jig hooks in the weighted EWG "Do-It" molds too! Even the Off-Set EWG Jig Hooks for the Magnum Weedless NED Mold too! Its such an amazing presentation! And using the Do-It weighted EWG Hook molds really make it a legitimate Jig Hook, instead of just using nail weights and 90 degree jig hooks in a less than ideal configuration. I regularly make them up to 1/2 once for larger swimbaits and and soft jerkbaits. When you can make a bait wiggle like a wacky rig on the drop, glide like a fluke, and hunt/search when swimming it, ALL ON THE SAME CAST AND IN THE SAME STRIE ZONE, you know it's money! Tight Lines! Жыл бұрын

@@falsewhite9752 it will happen.if you don't glue it ahead of time. But you can just readjust it while it's in the baitI and using a superglue that has a pipette, very sparingly. I prefer the shrink tubing that already has the adhesive built into it for that reason, but it's not failsafe so the Superglue with a needle point applicator always comes in handy. Sometimes, I even use a two part Steel Epoxy putty on my hooks, if I want to keep it simple for packing and bank fishing.

The lead isn’t molded to the hook like some companies have done… also there’s several companies that make a weighted hover rig hook. I just happen to show another variation
