One thing that makes a home look expensive is also organizing, decluttering, and cleaning. Things at home definitely can get messy but a simplistic home that is clean and smells good takes it up a notch.

I know others have said it but wow I just have to say it again...I have been on KZread for a LONG time and I have NEVER seen someone like you. Your DIYs are more expensive looking and high end than anything I have ever seen and your style is exactly what I’ve been searching for. I will be binging all your videos and looking forward to more!!! Keep doing what you’re doing! You’re going to blow uppppp
Totally agree about shopping at high-end stores. I also love "shopping" at expensive antique stores to get inspiration for whenever I'm out thrifting.

I really like what you touched on about decorating for yourself and for your family- about how we all are in different seasons of life. I often watch channels that don’t have kids (Nothing wrong with that at all! ❤️) and it makes projects or design ideas seem impossible because I have two young kids. I love your channel! ❤️
Been really loving your videos! So nice to find a design channel that does minimal styling and a neutral color palette.
I've done so many of the diy aged looking vases and the one paper Mache bowl you did Jorge.. i love it..it looks so good! I am working on doing my own watercolor art to put above my couch..I'm not an artist but it is original cause I created it lol..thank you for your wonderful advice and I'm excited for the next video❤️🥰

Yes! I agree with all Of these points! I will say that the point that has made my home feel as though it has pieces of “value” is focusing on scale. I am a minimalist naturally, and I found that having 3-4 large (maybe just a bit too large) scale pieces of anchor furniture in a room with just a few touches of “practical decor” in different finishes (wood, stone, metals) makes the room feel “filled” without clutter; and it’s that anchored and substantial simplicity that reads a tad more upscale than having a room filled with all the things from the magnolia and studio McGee collabs at target (not throwing shade there). I thoroughly enjoy your videos Jorge- Can’t wait for the next one!
@casa_refined

Absolutely! I think it's all about intentionality too. I certainly find myself pulling things out and rotating frequently to avoid cluttering.

Oh yes! I have small to med. size living room painted a warm white with high cathedral ceiling and styled with just a couple large pieces of off-white funiture, large mirror over fireplace, large canvas art on one wall and scattered a few distinct black and gold pieces throughout the room. It's not a show room but feels cozy and sort has a minimalist Parisian vibe.
Just found you and I love your content! You are down to earth, no fluff and extremely insightful. Looking forward to seeing all your content! Blessings!
Loved this! You are wise beyond your years! I am now 54 years old and I am downsizing and the question I ask myself the most through this process is why....why did you buy that, why that thing, you never used it, why, why and why? You wasted a lot of money Terri! And if I did use it I am now faced with getting rid of things that have memories attached. So this cannot be said enough to younger people IMO. Always design for you, your family, your home, your situation. But if you get good at parting with things that may not matter as you go, it will make it so much more easy when you are my age. Keep what truly matters. I live with my parents to help with my father and I am redesigning my room. It is the smallest room in the house and it is a house that has other, larger room options but my mother has said nope, can’t move, that is so and so’s room, who maybe comes twice a year. This is all okay, I am clearing out and making it my own, on my terms. You need to be comfortable in your space and this heavy, and yes, antique furniture is not my style, is too large for this room and out it goes to storage. This sounds harsh but I am beyond caring that it was my grandma’s furniture. At this point I would live in the most modern and minimalist tiny house if I could! So listen to this wise man, he has it absolutely, 💯 correct. Thank you for this video! ❤️

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate the honesty too. At the end of the day it's our home. I've learned letting go of something physical doesn't mean it will be forgotten. It can still be appreciated in memory. Items have a reason AND a season. 😁

@@casa_refined SO true! I loved your advice about colors. Ultimately, my daughter, as her vision, is turning it into my “sanctuary.” The problem has been that one, our tastes are literally at opposite ends of the spectrum and two, so are our colors. The first thing she started talking about was farmhouse. I said, no, no and NO, we are going modern, minimalist modern, mid-century modern, the point is modern. If I want to wake up to a cow staring at me I can literally drive 12 miles to our family farm and see one in person. 😂 So on to the colors. Black, blush, a touch of gold, and then she wanted to throw cream in to soften the blows I was throwing at her with the darker colors. I said, no to cream it has too much yellow in it. She said, huh? I had to literally call my brother on this, he is a district manager of like 10 Spectrum paint stores and is apparently the go to guy if someone is looking for a not on the shelf, specific color. He went on and on about 10 minutes about the color cream. He said, I always ask, you sure about the cream, it has more yellow in it than you think. They always say yes and by the next day they are back saying it is too yellow. He told me to move into the taupe family, the lighter tones, stay away from anything yellow. He is currently finishing up my own color for me, after a couple of back and forth phone calls, and two in person consults. You want a specific color become best friends with the best paint guy you can find. Seriously. My daughter was like, who knew? 😂
The trick I have used over the years to great success and you eluded to but did not give the emphasis that I thought it deserved and that is the use of one or two quality pieces within a space. It impresses and sets a tone for the supporting pieces. Great video, loved your black and white set with the splash of green over your right shoulder.

Really helpful insights. I love window shopping for inspiration and so refreshing to see someone linking the architecture to interior design. It can feel like you have no options in rented accommodation at times but your tips are great :-) And for anyone who struggles to tidy up and clean on a regular basis, my mum's tip was always to invite a friend to come over in 30 minutes. You'll be amazed how quick you can clean and tidy your home :-)

Thank you Jorge for the advise to go to high end stores to look at what high end items look like in person. It never occured to me to do that. I've been just looking at pictures. I guess it's the same as shopping online vs in-store shopping. You don't know how it'll fit or feel before buying.

Great Video beautiful tips
Really good advices of what to think about before choosing the style, what to consider, what to be aware of... exactly what I got through recently:) I also believe it's important to keep interior in connection to exterior if only you are not living in multistorey apartment building. And it could be tricky to keep all rooms in same style, especially if you have many rooms:) So yes, it's a lot to keep in mind and combine together before you actually start doing anything.
I love your style and ideas
Gracias, great ideas 😍

Hi, I’m new to your channel, so glad I found you. I definitely love the same neutral colours as you. Looking forward to all of your videos. 👍
The best way yo keep a magazine house is leaving the house at 7am and come back after 8pm. It worked for us. I miss kids at school and working over full time. 😂😂😂
Really great tips but the first one is so true. A lot of people these days tend to just want to replicate the homes of people they see on YT and IG completely forgetting that the first impressions that guests will get from a home depends on what they see and feel going around each room. If you've simply done a 'copy and paste' job from a magazine/channel without putting your own individual stamp on it and bringing through your own personality it will show.. A small/medium-sized budget does not have to mean cheap and tacky these days. DIY 'Tubers such as yourself are teaching us all how to make our homes a statement of who we are - in the best possible way. TFS

My favorite wall art in my home was made by covering and old canvas with a $1.00 scrap of black and white fabric! I wait for the..."buy one get one free" ...sale at Michael's. Then I pick up two.. 2 packs of 12"x24" black the level 1 canvases. That works out to about $2.50 each canvas! I cover them with fabric, paint abstracts, do a collage. Fun, fun, fun!!!
