Bridge the gap (what’s the story in your travel vlog?) 4. What will save you the most time: use a timer in editing your videos!

I just quit my job as analyst at a bank. I spent the last 10 years there while making some extra money on the side as a local musician. Now I'm moving to Thailand in two months. I enjoy the beauty of any creative process; whether it's song writing, drawing, catching a good photo, or video editing. My goal is to make creativity my life. This was super motivating. I love capturing the small every day moments while I'm traveling. I think there's something really beautiful about it, and it makes me happy that I can share those moments through my footage with people, and maybe even inspire them to travel to a place so they can experience what I saw

As a landscape and travel photographer, I create videos on location to inspire people to grab their camera and get out and shoot photos. I’m doing this to share the stories behind my images and build a community of like minded creatives. Awesome tips here Thomas, I do many of them but the bonus tip of time boxing the editing is one I’m going to try and do for my next video, cheers mate!

Hey, so I'm just on a trip and I need your help! After making a few videos I have figured that my films need way more faces. But the problem is should I film myself or just random people around me? Both is not that great I think because if you have a lot of random people you can't really tell a story that's going to be Interessent the whole video but I also have no camera man to film me and the dudes I travel with are not that interested in film so any Tipps? Dude, i really like how you talk all about these psychological stuff like being confident and relaxed rather than going pure technical. I think this is the first step to really get someone doing such a cool thing like video editing. Can't wait for my ski trip to France and capture some moments, tho i only have a gopro 6.

It looks like you filmed this at the pagoda in north London on hampstead heath , never been there but it looks flamiliar some how

I went to Cuba back in February, and I recorded hours worth of footage while I was there. I still haven't gotten around to editing a lot though because I feel so overwhelmed with how much footage I have. I'm going to try the "Use a timer" technique, and see if that helps me get through it. Wish me luck! -Michael

A Go Pro is great for travel videos, it's small & portable, water proof, and good quality!!

I use a canon g7x!! Not waterproof but gives a ton of flexibility on the shots you want to get with the settings. And small and compact to carry around. Plus it has a viewfinder!

I enjoy showing the world, how each place is unique, different, and beautiful!

Thanks a lot for the effort you put into your videos. I really do love them to get started with the whole filmmaking thing for myself. I'm just bored of watching holiday pictures and never do that - so memories get lost. Another great video Thomas! That bonus tip is great. The amount of time I spent editing videos became very discouraging for me, and was part of the reason I stopped making them. I think setting a timer will help me manage my time better and bring back the fun of making videos.
