Great idea but it ended up looking like a mess. Next time don't make it so tall, it will never fit on a plate, wait until after the almonds to pipe the border, take the leaves off the strawberries,(no one wants to have to fish through their desert to pick the nasty bits out.) don't add the jelly goop to the strawberries, don't cram the top so full and leave off the chocolate sprinkles.

Who is here because of the Demi Lovato documentary?

I have made this cake several times. I cut the melon cake into wedges b/f frosting. Can use skewers to hold together, if necessary.. Never used whipped cream, cool whip w/ pudding added. Was afraid cream wouldn't hold up. Also, cut the melon ahead a few hours to let it seep some of the water out (dried a bit). Was worth making this cake, especially if you want special and ppl don't want flour based cake. Can also tie a pretty ribbon around the outside to assure to togetherness.

I would try using coconut cream instead of a milk based frosting. Just put a can in the fridge, scrape the cream that forms on top and whip it in your blender. It taste great! Love these summer fruit cakes!

I never leave negative comments on YT vids, but this was worse than watching paint dry. The first 8 mins were spent cutting and then "icing" the watermelon cake, the next 2 mins were spent staring at the cake sitting on its stand and then resmoothing the cream and then I had to watch the hot mess of decoration. Editing software would be priceless for this vid, we really only needed to see 1 min of video, and that's at a stretch!

Everyone in the comments need to shut the heck up. If you don't have anything nice to say to keep to your self. The looks great, you are just jealous because you can't do better. She did her best and I think it looks great. Instead of saying 'waste of time' 'not vegan' why not just say 'great job! Not for me but you need a good job!' Stop being rude. Please and thank you

Wow. That was a hot mess. The watermelon should have been sliced into layers and frosted. The bottom details of the cake should have been put on after the almonds although I don't really think almonds and chocolate jimmies would be good with watermelon at all. The texture and flavors are off. Layering fresh fruit such as berries in-between each layer would be nice. I'm sure with a bit of tweaking this could work especially with whipped cream frosting. Maybe brushing the watermelon with a light llayer of honey just to make sure it's sweet enough.

I actually find this very satisfying.

I made this cake for my birthday cake. All my friends and I are on various diets - weight loss, diabetic, low fat, low carbs. I used an easy-to-spread cream cheese frosting to add protein, in place of the whipped cream. Everyone, including me, loved it. It was light, low-fat, no refined sugar, and tasted delicious. Before you idiots start condemning this cake idea, perhaps you should try it. Or, maybe you just want to cram high fat, high calorie, high sugar desserts into your fat mouths to keep your body as fat as possible. So tired of haters trying to force their miserable mindsets on other people.

CakeVideosfromexpert I'm sorry for all the hate you've received from this video, but I'll give you some reasons as to why it has received so many complaints. 1. When people refer to a cake, it usually means that it is that soft, delicious, sweet or savory food which is baked from egg, flour, sugar etc. We know now that you meant it was a watermelon cake as in, it's watermelon in the shape of some round cakes, but it still mislead some people, clearly it wasn't your intention though. A more appropriate title, would've been something like no-bake watermelon cake. 2. This isn't really much of a "How to" video since you aren't giving enough instruction, and yes I know it's ridiculously simple, but you should at least give some tips. 3. You should really edit out parts of the video, where you aren't doing anything, like from 7:50 to 9:13 4. Try not to use the exact same music in all your videos Also, just something from me, maybe you should have placed whipped cream around the bottom after you put the sliced almonds on. Good luck :)

Cake means a pound of a something. Not necessary meaning soft. The idea of a watermelon cake is good. But spreading something oily on it just wont work. I would suggest using fondant icing instead. Just a jacket of it would do the trick. Also I suggest that you soak that watermelon in some heavy sweetened water. That would do the trick.

But i think it's a great idea for those who like to try something new and think outside the box! See this as inspiration and make it in your own version, people. Sofie Haugland I make it with alternating slices of honeydew and cantaloupe. Not quite so tall. I use real whip cream though, not the greasy cool whip! Stabilize the cream with either sour cream or a tablespoon of dry pudding mix (vanilla or cream cheese)

honestly i was interested in how this would work, but i stayed for the smooth jazz.

I think this is a great idea and yes whip cream on watermelon!!! along with chocolate on fruit! of course since I am a self contained person I would simply feed the "waste" to my chickens since most folks commenting here do not compost I guess they forget about all the other waste they throw out but I think this would be a big hit with the kids on a hot summers day in tropical Florida and yes I agree a large seedless would be nice but who cares its cold watermelon
