Will tie down bungee cords you use to tie down luggage not work?

Simple figure 8 knot on the single line will pull in without using KY. Whip the end and you're good to go. Tie a loop in after you're done whipping the tubing.

Thanks for your comment and yes, we too like the figure 8 but it doesn't handle a big strike. We've tried it and it pulls through. That's what led us to a bigger knot. Thanks for watching and joining the conversation.

No offense, but I've made dozens of handlines over 45 years. I've hooked countless mahi, ono, tuna, swordfish and even a big marlin that broke the parachute cord, but even then, the knots have never pulled out. My guess is your whipping is not tight enough. As I said earlier, way easier to tie the loop in the end after leading a single cord thru the tubing, and no KY.

What about tying a constrictor knot like done for the bands on spearguns. I use dyneema and it never pulls out. In fact once I tightened the knot so tight that it cut right through the rubber and I had to start over.

Don't you have a video on whipping also?)) I've never done this and not entirely sure how to do it correctly

Look up a constructor knot for speargun bands. I’m sure it would work fine, maybe better

At first I was wondering what the hell you were doing, that is genius. What size surgical tubing is that? Inside and outside diameter?

It’s tubing that is sold for spear fishing guns. I’ve asked Jan about specs. Glad you enjoyed it.
