I leave them in adobo and garlic in water and they get a nice flavor

How long do you leave them in ?

Do you mean dip them in the garlic adobo water before you refry? That's what I do.

@@bkmac10 I soak them in it for 10 minutes and then I fry them. I only let it fry till it’s a pale golden color. I take them out and then I squash them and dip them again in the salted water for about 1 or 2 minutes and then I finish frying them again.

@@CRC-876 I slice them diagonally. I soak them in water with adobo and garlic powder for 10 minutes and then I fry them. I only let it fry till it’s a pale golden color. I take them out and then I squash them and re-dip them again in the salted water for about 1 or 2 minutes and then I finish frying them again.

Put the pieces between the plantain peels. That way, you can use the palm of your hand to smash them.

Hermano, you are made for this type of instruction medium! Always enjoy your recipes and your friendly and thorough instructions. Never saw anyone use a cup bottom like that, but now I know in case I don't have a tostonera. Have a blessed year.

Love the 5 second rule mentality LOL totally how i'd do it too. Will be making this soon!
Thanks for the video, first attempt making them, since I left my grandmother’s house
I use the bottom of a 2-cup pyrex measuring cup to smash them. They slide right off. We also have a dipping sauce for them: Add a couple of tablespoons of oil to the Mojo marinade you buy at the store. Mix well. Yum.
I found this so late hope all is good, gotta thank you bro killing it with the tips definitely checking more thank you!!!

Lol ur soooooo silly I love U so much, I have learned so much from ur Videos ..
My mother taught me to place the fried tostone between two pieces of brown paper bag and squash it with the heel of my hand. They didn't stick to the paper and were easy to get back in the pan.

Looks delicious!!! I usually cut them and go straight to the oil without soaking in lightly salted water but I'll be trying your way next... I take it you don't salt after, correct??? You can eat those anytime of day, which is bomb! Thank you Freakin Rican🙃

I love watching your videos you're very entertaining. I just want to point out the name of the pan ie., the frying pan/skillet is what you use to make the tostones in and sauce pan is the ones you use to make the beans and or boil water. Keep up the great videos! Love the simple manner with which you prepare the dishes and your recipes. Great job!

Hahaha, que charlatan eres, lol. You are so funny, your coffee mug is not only for coffee, also for smashing platanos, that's so genius! My mom used to make a dip of mayo mixed with ketchup and spices like adobe, onion and garlic powders, etc. . mmm, love it. Sending hugs and kisses. 😊 👍 ❤
Can you use yellow plantains if you want them sweeter?
cleanest stove I've seen on any cooking video. lol some were nasty. sorry.

In my humble opinion there is no need for soaking in salt water as that step is for making masa for pasteles and alcapurrias. I just peel cut and try remove smash fry until crispy then add salt and maybe some garlic. Save some time and the extra step. Looks yummy. Try it for lunch with topped picadillo.
Need some fried eggs. Love it. 👍🙏👍✌️❤️😎🌞
Do you filter and save your oil?
