This is a fantastic technique and I’m absolutely going to give it a shot. One thing I’d like to try is to use a copper sulphate fusing solution instead of flux….I wonder if that would improve the process or ruin it? Def worth trying.

Thanks for sharing this technique! Now I am itching to experiment something like this but with the type of pewter that I use for Jewelry (aquaclean). Very different working temperatures, but I loved the texture! I will try my hand at this

Thank you for watching (*^▽^*)/ I have never dealt with pewter. Pewter has a low melting point, so I think it is necessary to pay attention to the temperature.☆ I wish you success. (^O^)/

Thank you very much. I hope this video helps you. This is a technique called “共付け TOMOZUKE” in Japan. The meaning is that both are melted and attached without using brazing material. Both are shavings and silver plate in this video.

モリタカツヤ the English word for this process is “fusing.” Reticulation is something different.

@@user-zj6bc3ir1y Thank you for your reply. I was wondering, with all the extensive heating done, if there is a problem with firescale (discoloration due to copper oxides rising to the surface in sterling silver). I imagine that would be difficult to remove from the textured surface.

@@AbsentWithoutLeaving I'm sorry. I mistranslated "fire scale" . It is not seen on the textured surface, but the fire scale appears on the back. This time, I left it as it is, but it may need to be scrape off. There may be the fire scale on the textured surface, but it is not visible. Until now, the fire scale has never been noticeable on the texture side.

Gillian M. The hammer hand piece on a Foredom gives a very different texture, although an attractive one. The fused texture shown here is built up above the surface. The texture made by the hammer hand piece is recessed. The fused texture is also more organic.

  • @user-zj6bc3ir1y

Only the surface of the silver plate is slightly melted. The movement of the flux is used as a guideline.

Sorry for the late reply. I think ... 0.5~0.8mm (?_?)/ If it is too thin, it will melt so much that it loses its shape.
