The best thing is carpeting the rear bulkhead. The other stuff doesn't make all that much difference but adds loads of weight.

Soundproofing my old mx5 made a huge difference to the NVH and made it much nicer to drive long distance, transformed the car really....cheers frome NZ

Nice video. I had to change the plastic mats on my CR they had a big hole below the pedals. I cut up a carpet foot mat and noticed a big difference. Your video has inspired me to carpet under the seats as well. Thanks.

@@oskarsuc Ahh thank you! I saw an Exige Club Racer at the recently LOG40 event here in the united states, beautiful car with that light blue livery and black stripes!

Just use dinamat insulation that people use for there subwoofer upgrades it’s used specifically used for this purpose and to trap airwaves in the cabin location were there at

Hey Brice, thanks for watching! Actually during my research I learned that product like dynamat actually are for reducing vibrations and dampening sound is generated by vibrations. As you can imagine, if you have like a drum, and you add dynamat to it, it'll be quieter when you hit it with a drumstick. So most cars do need that. But you ALSO need to reduce the sound entering the vehicle too, such as from road noise. The dynamat stops a "source" of the noise, but if the noise is coming from the road you need to insulate from that too.

thanks for making this video. my elise did not have the carpet/dampener behind or under the seat so i think these mod would help a lot

Also take the rear bulkhead panel out and put good carpet underlay there, including out in to the ‘wings’, that will make a huge improvement without adding much weight. The other material you can use is noico 2mm sound reading mats, it’s like butamin but nowhere as heavy

Darren - good eye! No, it's the stock seat but was modified using this kit (www.inokinetic.com/eliseexige/seat-grommets?category=Interior/Safety). I didn't have the courage to cut the leather myself so I took it to a shop to do it (and install the harness bar and 4 pt belts.)

About to buy an Elise but the sensible thing would be to get a Cayman for safety and comfort

Thanks for watching! The Cayman is a great car and quite a bit more refined than an Elise...but for a "racecar on the street" type of feeling, the Elise is incomparable (except maybe like an Ultima GTR?!)

I agree...if I lived in a place which didn't have speed cameras or as much traffic it's no contest and I'd already have an Elise, exige or Evora. As I have a pretty quick motorcycle for sunny days it means if it's perfect weather out and it's just me, I'll likely be on that instead.... ...Although I did use to have an Ftype a few years back and I rarely rode my bike because if the leathe and helmet hassle. Buying toys is hard.

Great video but funny that a video about noise reduction includes maybe the most irritating and worst music ever, when removing the seats...! Haha!

Hey thanks for watching! Yeah well, it's OK...after 10 years I've lost some of my hearing so it kind of sorted itself out. Though I'd imagine I did a lot more damage to my ears riding motorcycles anyway.

LOL only in America ! ... buy a car with a specific design ethos and then " re-engineer " it in the opposite direction !🤣
