How to Make the Easiest & Cheapest Fog Chiller Ever

This fog chiller could easily be made for under $10, or free if you can find this stuff laying around. The fog machine is a Chauvet Hurricane 700 and the pipe used is a gutter extension which you can find at a local hardware store.

Another tip if using outside. Stop mowing your lawn a few weeks ahead of Halloween and wet the lawn before using the fogger. It helps the fog to stick around a bit longer.

I've done this for haunted houses before and the method works great. One suggestion is to wet the outside of the frozen bottles before tossing them in the duct. It amplifies the effect a lot more.

The idea's been around for a long long time he just presented it very well & concisely and got great indoor results. for how long though I 'd guess less than 30 min before the water bottles melted. he didn't say. I wish people would say "this is an idea I found online and this is my version or this is how you do it.' but they don't. others use perforated gardening hose duct taped on the end for back pressure with or without water bottles including the guys who invented the trash can chiller ghostofhalloween I was the one who thought of the coleman ice cube DIY vortex chiller while walking thru walmart. I didn't have a cat so didn't want to get a kitty litter pail people used to mmic the real vortex product In hindsight I just would have bought one of those but DIY is too much fun but also too time consuming. DIY-ers just have to make things harder than they need to be to 'save money' and put their own stamp on it including reversing the fog flow lol I almost tried this with drier duct but use the trash can version these days. I also use a 5 gallon bucket to a cauldron.

IMPORTANT: you should leave a gap between fog machine and pipe! This draws in air to the mix before it enters pipe, creating more fog and less moisture problems! Moisture in pipe is a failure of the system. you want maximum FOG (keep it in a gasous state) and not allowing condensation to form it back into a liquid state.

Nope. Just tried this everyone. It does not work w frozen bottles. Dry ice works awesome use that. I did a video comparison of frozen water bottles and dry ice side by side with 2 fog machines at the same time and it’s a no brainer. I was using cheap little 400w fog machine from Walmart, nothing big. Dry ice wins hands down. I bet regular ice would work better than bottles but don’t want the mess to deal with on my porch. Dry ice is 1.65 per lb;. 4 times the cost of ice but not a bank breaker. And it lasted about an hour inside the tube. I only used 4 lbs. dry ice worked better on 2 tubes pushed together, where the ice was in second tube farthest from fog machine. This gave the air being pushed 6 feet of cooling time before it hit the dry ice. That seemed to work best.

I did this and it doesn’t turn out to be the same effect? Maybe the fog fluid I used. I mixed vegetable glycine with distilled water . Any advise ?

My 700 Model will put out fog for about 20 seconds, then it kinda seems like it has to "recharge" for 40 seconds or so before I get the Ready light again. IS THIS NORMAL?

Yes, the liquid that becomes smoke/fog cools down the heater. The majority of budget machines can't output continious fog as the heater that makes the fog cools down too much. You can make your fog machine last last longer by using it in shorter bursts, this should give the heater some time to get back up to temperature.

This worked great for me! Unfortunately my fog machine can't put out a lot of volume too quickly, but what I get looks amazing.

Do I need a specific low-lying fog machine and low-lying fog solution for this or will any fog machine and solution work?

What fog juice did you use? Would Low Lying Fog juice in a regular fog machine still work?

I think he's using high density regular fog juice, low lying fog juice works on regular fog machines as well
