How To Make T-shirt Yarn - a Continous Strand
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this video I will show you how to make one long continuous strip of yarn from a T-shirt. T-shirt yarn can be used to replace any other chunky yarn in you knitting, crocheting and weaving projects. And stay tuned because I have several projects that I'll post in the coming weeks that don't require a crochet hook or knitting needle.

Oh. My. Goodness. This is the best t-shirt yarn tutorial I've ever seen! Seriously! I will be sure to send anyone who asks me how I do it a link to this video because I'm terrible at explaining. Thanks!
I just used my homemade t shirt yarn to make a sturdy, but not hard toy basket for my nieces! Thank you!
My husband is about to loose a couple dozen t shirts....He doesn't need so many. :) I don't think I will care how greasy or stained they are either because I need a new rug, or two, or three.... lol. It's probably not a good thing that i saw this video. Thanks for the inspiration!

This is brilliant. Thanks for doing the legwork! Can't wait to start using up those old shirts!!! This will be perfect for my next afghan!!! THANK YOU!!!!
Love this tutorial. Now I want to tear into my t-shirt collection that needs purging and make yarn for my crocheting. Thank you for sharing!
Great technique. Never would have thought about something like this. Great way to save money.
Best video I have found for explaining this technique, beginning to end. Thank you.
This is the first video that was clear.. thanks!
I absolutely loved this video. Thanks for sharing!
OMG! The pill bottle technique! Brilliant!
Thanks for the video! I have been interested in making a rag rug for awhile and this is the perfect how-to!!!
What a great help! This stuff is crazy expensive at the craft stores.
This is a great video and I love the trick at the end. So much nicer than the way I've done in the past. Thank you for posting this video!
loved the pill bottle idea for the centre pull piece
Wow that pill bottle technique was genious, I love it when I learn something new. Great video.
Your video is clear and done nicely. There are lots of similar ones out there, I wouldn't bother to remake what you have done, but my only suggestion is perhaps use a better color than black just so it's a bit easier to see what you are doing when you do the cross-cut on the diagonal. Your setup, timing, lighting and clarity of sound were all great. If you make other videos, keep on keeping on with the same.

Super tutorial!! Love how you explained. Something new for me to try.
Good instruction. I learned from her about using a pill bottle to wrap the t-shirt yarn into a ball. Smart. So good to learn small useful tricks to make projects easier. Thank you.
You are a fantastic, clear, teacher! Love your voice...great trick w the bottle...more videos Plse. ! I could listen to all your videos ....some people are infuriatingly slow and repetitive ...you're a natural instructor ! Thank u
Fabulous! I can't wait to try this!!! How simple!!
this is great! I just found yarn on the store shelves and bought it instantly now I'm gonna make my own from old/unwanted t-shirts and/or thrift store shirts for a much cheaper price.

Just make sure the sheet you use is a knit not a woven sheet. Woven sheets will fray like crazy but knits won't. Have fun!
Nice video and very informative. I would like to see more of your videos. Note: Safety first. People should ALWAYS close the cover on rotary cutters to avoid accidental cuts to the hand.
Awesome ! Excellent idea for repurposing clothes! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much! I messed up my first shirt really bad but this video made things a LOT clearer than others have. Turned out perfect!!!!

Love, Love, Love this tutorial, Thank You soooo much!!!
Thank you for this tip on making a continuous t-shirt yarn ball. I bought lots of t-shirts last year at a Boy Scout rummage sale at a local church. I used the strips I made from the t-shirts to braid and make hair ties, wrist bands for Relay for Life. I bought about 20 t-shirts for $10. Also, garage sales are a great place to get t-shirts!!

awesome...was going to buy t shirt yarn. not now. love the pill bottle idea.
Have a friend who is a super sewer and is needing to retire soon due to knee problems. This would certainly be something she could add to her home business! Thanks for the ideas! Sometimes its difficult to understand what someone is doing in a video but the way you explain what you're doing, along with the action, its as if you're sitting in the same room doing it together! Thanks! I'll be sending this to her :)

I'm so glad it was easy to follow and hope your friend finds it super useful...I know a thing or two about knee problems and they are NOT fun!
Thank you for sharing. It is very clear and looks simple enough. I think the hardest bit is going to be finding t-shirts with no seam.
Great Video! Very clear instructions & video.
The pill bottle technique is very clever and I think it would save time and arthritic hands!
I love this video!! Thank you!! I have tons of t-shirts I don't need or wear and I've been looking at buying yarn. It's expensive! And most of it is made from a variety of stuff so it may or may not be washable. I need new bathroom rugs. I'm going to use your wonderful video to make yarn and rugs with what I already own.
Wow! Thanks for that so clear and he pill bottle centre is inspired!
Great tutorial! I have been making this yarn for a long time, but I did the continuous strand a different way. Now, I am going to do it your way, it seems much easier! I also like the pill bottle idea! If only I had a pill bottle or something about that size!
This is a wonderful and useful tutorial. I want to get some cheap white T-shirts and dye them and try this on a knitting patter I have. Thanks so much!
