How To Make "Strings Of Illusion" Free Verbal/Visual Scrap Quilt Pattern
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Wanna make a stunning quilt out of your scrap fabric strings???
Well I have the Perfect Pattern for you!!!
This is a Free Verbal/Visual Pattern for your Scrap Strings.
Strings Of Illusion is a fun easy make that may take some time to piece, but has amazing results.
The strings look like they are floating.
I did make this for you all before in a Time-Lapse only video here:
• Time-Lapse Making A Sc...
You need 3 1/2 yards of a background + a bunch of strings.
Cut 9- 5" strips, sub-cut to 72- 5" squares.
Add strings to 2 sides back and forth (like a braid or half log cabin) till you get to 10.5".
Then lay out on point 6 across by 7 down.
You will be cutting 6- 16.5" cuts, sub-cut to 16.5" Squares. Cut on both diagonals for side set in triangles.
On point corners are 2- 8.5" squares cut on diagonal once.
Then more strings cut 5" for border with 4- 5" square cornerstones cut from remaining 8.5" piece. Then piece together the quilt as shown in video on point.
Trim quilt and add the 5" string piano key border with cornerstones. It's pretty simple.
Just takes a while to make this big for a size of 94"x106". Took me a total of 20 hours to make, spanning over 4 days.

Ha that’s until you’re too old and stiff to get up and down on the floor! I now have numerous card and trestle tables I have to put up and walk around to layout and measure my quilts! At 75 the hips and knees are not quite so obliging anymore ❤from Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺

If you want an extra hand while you trim with a long ruler use a gallon jug or a half gallon jug. I keep two in my sewing room one for my iron and the other to keep my ruler steady. Try it. You might like it. Thanks for your tutorials. Love them.

Don’t you see over her left shoulder. Boxes of specific sized scraps. I’m so intimidated.
This video is the first I ever saw during insomnia. You are a great teacher. I didn’t know what the terminology was until this video. I need to not agonize over putting together scraps. I love your videos. Thank you.
I love the scrappiness and not wasting leftovers.
That is a very large and very beautiful quilt.
Both are lovely! I'm a turquoise lover!
Another mind blowing quilt you made. It is beautiful quilt. Thanks for sharing
I am a beginner and have shopped around channels and you are the best. I leave every video thinking "I can actually do that!" You are a born teacher. Thank you for the lessons and the beautiful quilts you make.

Yes! Beginner here too, I too agree! You are born to teach. ❤️
You are my favorite instructor. I always get so much more out of your instructions. Because you are so honest with your hang-ups, it is easier for me to have confidence in myself. I believe you are making me a better quilter.❤

I laughed when I saw you bring out the bolt of focus fabric. I laughed because I also have bolts of the background fabrics I use often. I was binging on your quilts during the night. I have to go back to the star quilt. Last month I decided to put it on my list.

I needed this today. I'm exhausted and packing to move, and although I may not have a good sewing space for a while, it was refreshing to hear someone talk and describe everything, exactly the way I would. Your laughing at yourself and the broken mic had me giggling....I totally think and talk the same way!

You are such a good teacher, Tiffany. Thank you. That is a lovely quilt!
Thank you I made the blocks for a quilt similar and enjoyed you outtingvthus to. i've been quilting all my life and I'm 71. You're the first person I have run across that makes entire quilt online so that we have absolutely no questions at all and we can go back and rewatch it to make our quilt instead of just hit and miss. So many people want you to subscribe subscribe. I have a quilting group Quilting Buddies Worldwide online and I don't have a subscription for that either because I want people to learn and have fun and enjoy. Thank you again Tiffany for what you do. And you are in my prayers for your health. Jeannie Sladko

My goal years ago was to provide as much start to finish quilting videos I can get in under 2 hours. I didn't like all the videos I seen when I was learning that skipped all the steps. So I wanted to break that with full quilt tutorials 😊 Plus I honestly feel like if I miss a step then people learning will have no clue what happened in-between A and Z. Thank you for watching 😊
Beautiful! You are amazing! Love to watch you.
Thanks for showing the whole technique!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video! Newbie quilter here. Someday I'll have a scrap pile big enough ;)

So organized ❤ thank you! I also love how you go through each and every step. Thank you so much for this video. I am a new quilter and I’m gravitating toward scraps and strips . I love how all the blocks use the same pattern, but with the strings they are all different at the same time. Thank you again. You are such a good teacher, and you have inspired me to not only do this project, but to get organized in the micro way that I love. 😁🥰

awesome! both are soo beautiful!😊
Teal and Maroon- like them both, can’t choose. Love your tip for adding the final cornerstones. I work from the corners to center, overlap 1/2”, cut, sew, finish attaching (but only with scrappy borders). Can’t wait to try your method. Seems better to me. Thank you. Hope you and Becca are having a blast at Quilt Con. 😊

Awesome video. Thank you for clear instruction. It is a beautiful quilt and made with scraps!!!! Win, win!!
Just got to the end of the video….. as I commented earlier….”GREAT” video and easy to understand. Helped A LOT to understand terms commonly used that I had no clue what was referring to…. Such as: ON POINT, NESTING, FOCUS PRINT, CORNER STONE along with now knowing that when I connect rows that it’s ok…. RECOMMENDED to have the seams in each row going in the opposite direction. Also, as you did when laying out your pieces you commented on moving on to the BORDER you point out REALISTICALLY as to how long this is going to take. Just really impressed and grateful for happening by your video. Preference between the two quilt tops….. I lean towards TEAL myself; but,no doubt that they are equally beautiful and wonderfully made. 😊😊😊😊
