How To Make Soft Egg Food For Your Finches. For Conditioning & Rearing chicks

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

In this video, I will show you how I make different soft egg food for my finches, but you can also use them for your canaries or parakeets. I use it for conditioning my birds, getting them ready for the breeding season, and with a little twist, it is perfect for rearing chicks.

My 3 baby zebra finches are just 3 wks old. They started hatching on April 29th. Yesterday all three came out of their nests! (So cute) They can fly a bit & I started getting them use to perching on my finger. Should I offer food & water in a dish on the floor of the cage at this time? Parents have a diet of Lafeber's finch premium daily pellets, Kaylee supreme seed, I also make soft food for them (Carrots, peas, Nyjer, hard boiled egg (only from our hens) kale, broccoli, Quiko Classic Egg Food. Are these foods what I should start the babies on? I also have, exact hand feeding formula. Should I utilize this also? Currently parents are taking excellent care of the 3. I offer bird baths to the adults daily, at what age will the babies venture into that? I am new to finch parenting and I’m learning. I make sure the babies are in the nest before I cover the cage. At what age is it okay to leave the babies on their perches? Should brother & sister be housed together, or at what age should they be separated? I'm happy I came upon your page. Thank you Colette

The parents will feed them for multiple days. If you see the chicks eat on their own regularly you can separate them from their parents and each other. Looks like you are doing a great job. Hope you have some healthy chicks.

Don't give boiled egg shells to the birds... They are not beneficial at all( even can be harmful) do use dried raw egg shells. You can just put them in the sun for a couple of hours. Or you can bake them as well. Always keep one in the cage for them to nibble. Acts as a supplement to cutle fish bone.
