I started with approximately 20" of each color and ended up with a final keychain length of about 3.5" including the knot. There was 1.5" of the green and 2" of the tan left as "waste" after the final diamond knot was tied off. It was very difficult tying the diamond knot with so little left at the end. My recommendation would be to start with at least 24" and 30" would probably be better if you want a decent length keychain when you finish. That said, I'm fairly pleased with my first attempt at this particular project.

seems like a good and easy to follow tutorial, but PLEASE put in the length of cord used in all videos, I see a lot of questions about how long the cord is that is used and i also saw your reply to one viewer stating that you will check and place it in the description, but there is still no sign of it there

I thank you for the details and doing it slow. Am new to paracord making, am hooked. I made my wife and daughter a key chain and I made one for my ar15 stock. Come to find out I really liked the the snake knot look and come to find out it means GOOD LUCK. So now I like it even more. My 3rd one I made I liked your knot at the end, it turned out very well. That one is on my ar15. I've got a lot to learn but it's a new hobby I enjoy. Thanks again.............. Rickie Jones

This is a general suggestion to all those that post how to videos on PC knots. Hardly any of them start their instruction with the length of PC required for the knot/braid being made in the video and it's my guess that those watching are mostly new to the craft. It's quite frustrating for us beginners to run out of cord before finishing the item and/or having miles of cord left over. SO PLEASE....include required length at beginning of instruction. I'm sure there are others in my camp. The monkey fist is a prime example of the lack of lengths required for certain diameter cores. I have found a chart that offers the number of wraps for given diameters but it would be helpful if the chart maker did the math and included the overall length to make all the passes required for each diameter core listed. Overall, the instructions offered are very helpful and much appreciated. I hope I'm not out of line with this post, if so I apologize.

MY LENGTHS FOR REFERENCE: My tightly wound keychain was about 4 inches long in total and after starting with 4 foot of each color (8 foot total length) I cut off 2 feet 11 inches of each off the end. That means I only used just over 2 feet total for a tight, 4 inch keychain. You will want to have extra on there to be able to tie everything but I figure a 4 foot length (2 foot of each color) should be fine.

Good man, this particular information is rarely given despite it being so obviously useful........ a recipe tells you what you need + how much of it, you're then ready to go. The same applies here, but the how much bit is rarely given + is something 'Para-People' need to get together, seeing how glaringly clear it is that this information should be supplied. Again, I thank you for doing just that, you deserve a medal......... or a badge.............. or, at the very least.......... a sticker, for sure, no one would deny you that.........

i thought your visual directions were very easy to follow. you did it slow enough that i think i was able do it without having to pause and rewind much. the diamond knot is the only part i really had a hard time with, as i've never done that more complicate knot. i do think that it would also help if you put the length of the cord(s) used in the description in it would help us a lot from the beginning without having to wonder or ask how long your cord was. otherwise, nice & easy to follow tut!

+aars andijvie That last knot is a two-strand diamond knot. There is a much easier way to do that part than what he shows. There are lots of videos on here about how to do that part. I understand the frustration: When I was watching it I thought what the _ _ _ _ is that supposed to be. But when he started tightening it up, I quickly recognized the two-strand diamond.

I messed it up 5 times and ended up with some random knot then topped the two loose ends off with overhand knots cut em and burnt the ends. Honestly my paracord is probably traumatized and needs a emotional psychiatrist.

God won't help with the lengths of cord. This guy is a dipstick for not answering peoples requests !
Nice , thank you.
i thought your visual directions were very easy to follow. you did it slow enough that i think i was able do it without having to pause and rewind much. the diamond knot is the only part i really had a hard time with, as i've never done that more complicate knot. i do think that it would also help if you put the length of the cord(s) used in the description in it would help us a lot from the beginning without having to wonder or ask how long your cord was. otherwise, nice & easy to follow tut!

I know I'm late but I just made one and you need about 20in of cord for each color.
Are there different thicknesses of paracord? My strands seem to be thinner than what's shown in this video.

Yes, paracord has many different diameters, so it is possible. Im using 550 paracord d=4.5mm.

Hi Tim, how would you do a bracelet using the double sinnet? Aiming for a sleek quick depoly that stores a little more paracord than doing it single … Keep up the great work! Highly appreciate your whole content Best Tobi
Cool video. I would like to do it but no mention on cord length. Maybe you should fix it so not so many people are complaining about it.
Do you have a video with this knot but adding crystal spacer beads every few knots? My brother made me a key fob like that and I want to recreate it. He’s passed away and my fob is getting loose from wear n tear, and I want to save it and make a new one.
Could you make cuthlings
Man thanks alot

Is a nylon cord and paracord just the same?
@mattyp80
7 жыл бұрын
smtel nope! paracord is a polyester/nylon weave over loose weave strands whereas nylon is just stranded elements woven to form a "rope"!

I probably called my paracord everything in the book for about 2 hours. Whipped it around. Watched this video umpteen dozen times yelling at the video. I don't think this is good boredom therapy when you can't tie A DAMN KNOT *SSSSSSSMMMMMMMAaaaaAAAASSSSSHHHHH"

My final knot came out lopsided, i did it with just black paracord, didnt know what to pull to tighten it, i think things moved around in a way they shouldnt have.
Great video but I wished you spoke the directions especially the knot at the end.
Do we have to use key ring

I was able to get it. But easier with spoken direction. The hard part was the knot.

Hi. This is Grass by Silent Partner. Free & no copyright track. You can download it from KZread Audio Library.
good rule of thumb is 1 foot of cord for every inch of finished product, ex, 3 feet of cord for 3 inch product..... so I've heard.... maybe:-)

Thank you for the tutorial. You make it look easy, but that diamond knot is a stinker. It took me almost ten tries to get that last knot done correctly.
The softcore porn music really made the video over the top.
what is the back round piano music called
....I couldn't tie a damn diamond knot if my life depended on it. Got the first part done sorta fast but 2 hours later I'm still trying to figure out the diamond knot.... I messed it up 5 times and ended up with some random knot then topped the two loose ends off with overhand knots cut em and burnt the ends. Honestly my paracord is probably traumatized and needs a emotional psychiatrist.
When I one day get really good at knots I may make my own videos. What do Y'all think of Mr. CanKnot for the name? Yeah? Nah? Meh? or Hell naw?

This was a good video until you started tying the diamond knot. You should have edited that segment or started over.

I agree with Elizabeth Powell - it would be much more helpful if you'd remove the music and instead added spoken instructions as well as visual. I'm sorry to say I didn't even bother to watch the whole video because I knew from the start I wouldn't be able to make the keychain from just visual instructions :(
I sure wish you might go slower and try to explain instead of playing music,it is very hard for beginners to watch and tie at the same time ,thanks for you time.
