How to Make Skull Rings at Home Workshop - Step by Step

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Please let me know in the comments if you liked my video and what would you like to see next!
Today I will show you my experience with wax patterns and lost pattern sand casting as I prepare to manufacture a set of charming skull rings. You will see me working on the ring wax pattern, which I think is the most interesting part of the process.

Hey bonn ? Guys ? How much would it cost to have a custom ring made ? I needed to make a few I could pass down in the family . Problem is the jewellers and metal smiths have zero interest in making the rings for me or where I can buy the equipment and materials for them .

Yup .... go on ebay and look up " melting dish crucible". Then you can buy an inexpensive MAP gas torch at a hardware store and use borax for flux (they usually sell this as a kind of detergent).

Byron Bound -soldering iron and a rolled piece of wax. Roll it into a stick. Check out a video on plastic welding . "Same principal " just a hot gun and remelting the wax to bond together kinda like just smearing it around . If you do the basic mold you can do all the fine detail work and will come pout nicer if you were to use a dremel and just some cheap carbon bits. That way you can polish it up real nice and take out any imperfections ! I actually use a dremel and just some carbide bits and just go straight atva big nut! Stainless steal! Carve it out and polish it. Ring sizers are almost a must and a ring mandrel . Sizers so you know the size you need to make and a mandrel to shape and get the size you want. Ten bucks for a mandrel and about five for ring sizers. The rest is easy to find and cheap. A rotary tool is one of the best tools you'll use for ring making. If you use metal get a little disposable torch in case you work with metal (coins). It will help soften them for shaping as well as hardening them.

The wax is burned out in the kiln. After the wax is burned out, it leaves the pattern in the mould cavity. The metal is poured in and the vacuum helps the metal get to in all of the mould cavity. Spin casting in a centrifuge is an less expensive alternative to vacuum.
