How to make Simple Toddler Bed Rails | Build

Фильм және анимация

After our son fell out of bed one night (he's ok, just his ego was bruised) I decided the flimsy store bought bed rail wouldn't suffice so I set out to the big box store and picked up some lumber. TOOLS USED LISTED BELOW.
I used three 1x4s, five 90° brackets, a handful of screws and some wood glue. The build was very simple and took about two hours start to finish. I decided not to finish the railings right now since it wasn't quite warm enough for it to dry but may get to it this spring.

Thanks for the video. I've been thinking of a side rail solution and have come up with some weird ideas but yours is so simple and effective. I'm going to make it for a full size bunk bed. Thanks again!

Thanks for showing how to build these safety rails. Do you remember where you purchased the 90 degree brackets?

I am interested in doing this. What are the dimensions of the 1x4s?

The three long side rails are 52" long and the three shorter end rails are 39" long; two upper and the one that is hidden underneath the mattress on each. All 4 of the vertical supports are all 18" in length and the 5 horizontal connecting pieces are 14" in length.
