    Thanks for a terrific tutorial, Gary. I've never used Pages in this way, so maybe from now on, for simple tasks, I will. Take care, stay safe and keep producing great content.

    This one cracks me up because I've been making signs in WordPad on Windows for many years. Mine are never this elaborate and are more for items on sale at my shop and announcements of holiday hours, etc., but all in black and white because the printer is a laser. Interesting how much more useful it seems Pages is. Haven't converted my shop to Mac yet, but I plan to when it's time to replace the shop computer.

    This was really helpful. I was making a form that needs to have four copies of the form per page, to take to the printer and cut into four after printing. One thing I needed on my form was a large (1.4 inch) square in the upper left corner. I learned the easy way to make this from this video. Unfortunately, when I clicked on Option and tried to drag the form to the other three spaces, the shape didn't go with it. I tried copying and pasting the shape into the form afterwards, but the formatting became completely weird, even though I had added the square after the text and lines on the original form. Eventually I found that if I copied the square and put it in place before I dragged the copy of the form into place, the amount of reformatting I had to do was minimal. I suspect there is a better way to do this. I need to watch more of these videos.

    I tried using Pages as an alternate the TextEdit because of the iCloud syncing but it’s not really suited to what I want. I find I mostly use Pages in Layout mode to create just the kind of documents you show here, the kinds of things I used to create when I called PageMaker my favorite word processor. In Layout mode I can do most of the things I used to do in PageMaker. We used to always call “option-drag” “option copy” so it’s easier to remember what you’re actually doing.

    Export as a PDF and then import the PDF into Pages.

    @@macmost Thank you for your response. I was able to import the PDF to my document, but was unable to later add it to the Shapes Library, perhaps this isn't proper term to used in this instance, if so please forgive me. Anyway, I was unable to see the "Save to My Shapes" option from the PDF that was selected.

    @@christopherbouget1169 No, you cannot add a PDF to the Shape library. It is a very different kind of element than a shape.

    Why not use “FIT PAGE” instead of a specific zoom percentage?

  • @macmost

    @macmost

    For one, those are buggy. Try them sometimes and you'll see they sometimes don't work. Second, it is nice when making a sign to sometimes see it as a piece of paper to visualize what you are getting.
