I love this shrimp scampi pasta recipe! Buttery, zesty and so satisfying… If you want to add more lemon wine butter and garlic to this recipe I certainly won’t stop you!
I love using spaghetti but if you want to sub in your favorite pasta to make linguini shrimp scampi for example then go ahead! If you’d like to try making your own pasta from scratch
ABOUT THE SHRIMP
I bought some super-fresh jumbo shrimp to make this dish and they made all the difference! Don’t use frozen precooked shrimp to make this recipe, the taste and texture will be subpar.
Cleaning, or deveining shrimp can seem a bit intimidating so I wanted to go over the process.
Start by removing the shell. You can peel it off from the bottom where the little swimmeretes are.
Once the shell is removed use a small knife to make a roughly 1/4″ deep cut down the top of the shrimp.
Now you should be able to see a small vein which you can pull out using your fingers.
That’s it! If you’re having difficulty you can cut a bit deeper and use a knife to help remove the “vein” which is actually the shrimp’s digestive tract.

Yum, but I think I would have tossed my pasta in that yummy garlic butter sauce before serving for extra flavor.

Hello! I just moved in to my first apartment the other day and this was my first home cooked meal. I've never cooked shrimp before but your video made the dish look simple and delicious. I was definitely pleased with my results and will be coming back to this video again. Thank you for sharing! :)
I’ve been making this for years. It’s much better when you slightly bump up the oil, butter, wine, lemon juice ratio so that you have enough liquid left to toss in pasta before plating. Always add more garlic than called for.

That looks delicious and easy to make. I always add about 50% more garlic than the recipe calls for. Best part is, I haven't seen a vampire for years now!

Lol 😂. Nice one
Most people never do this but there is another digestive tract on the bottom of the shrimp as well. I remove the tract from the top and the bottom. That’s how you make sure the shrimp is actually completely clean.
Absolutely amazing recipe! I made this last week and I’m making it again tonight. I’m very picky with my seafood recipes. Yes, I’m a bit of a seafood snob. Everything needs to be super fresh and top quality. I followed John’s recipe except for I removed the tails and added olive oil to the boiling water for my Angel Hair pasta. The shrimp was so tender and the flavors were to die for. Thank you John for another spectacular recipe. You’ve become my go-to for all of my You-Tube surfing. Well done sir!
I can't wait to try this! I'm the only one in my house who likes shrimp or garlic but that just means I don't have to share.

Hi John I love this shrimp recipe. The shrimp are very expensive here in New Zealand, but sometime I treat myself to some shrimp, I usually just bake it in the oven, but I cooked using this recipe, it's beautiful, I think I will treat myself a bit more often now. THANK YOU.
I always eyeball the ingredients. I’ve never followed the exact amount lol I feel it makes it more my own and it always comes out amazing. And yes...the smell of garlic is amazing. I love garlic. Awesome recipe.

@@CranesWing yes you can use scallops. He seems like a very nice guy but I do not like his recipe. Everyone has their own taste though. The raw garlic should be added after the shrimp have cooked until they turn red and almost cooked and the last minute of cooking add the parsely. I than squeeze in about 1/4 lemon and let it sit a minute. Pour everything including the delicious liguid over the pasta or better rice. Dust a little paprika on top of the shrimp.

I love his recipe. The only thing I'd do differently is stir the spaghetti in the sauce before plating. Other than that.... Perfection 😊
I find myself slicing the garlic more and more instead of mincing. I add cream to the sauce .... And Parm. 😛
