Seed bombs? Great minds think alike! I like to load up my belt-fed 50 caliber jeep-mounted machine gun with hollow point bullets and pack the hollow end of the bullets with various seeds (apple seeds = favorite). Then I have my driver race at high speeds through urban neighborhoods while I go on a crazed planting spree, screaming, "I'm Johnny Appleseed!" When I run out of ammo, I start chucking seed grenades, which are like regular grenades only with seeds glued all over the outside. Then I park outside of town and start laying down seed mortar fire. I'm fighting for a greener planet.

Try Alcea rosea. or Antirrhinum majus. It grows every where, huge results and beautiful flowers! Got a lot of seeds if you want some. By the way, sorry for my bad english! From France,

Use seeds native to your area!

Has anyone tried throwing these bombs yet? Great idea and super cute, wondering if it works. I received some paper that was supposed to sprout but it didn't work. My 8yr old was definitely disappointed, so was I.

simple and easy, definitely will try it. thanks for sharing!

Great idea. Seems better than the clay bombs. Thank you, I'll try it with native seed to use in degrades areas.

@@ignacioalonso4565 Some seeds needs to be on the outerside to actually sprout. Sprouting earlier than wanted is because they failed to squeeze out enough of the water and they also didn't dry out quickly enough.

Can I make bomb with cocopeat I can get it cheaper then soil I am using newspaper for bombs and I use only big tree seeds (ok ok huge trees) 8kg paper at $1 and cocopeat for $2.50 20kg ?

Seeds actually have their basic nutrient package with them. That´s why sprouts are superfood.

suggestion: wet your paper before you put it in the blender, it will be way, way faster to shred

Is there any merit to the statement that the ink from paper can be toxic to plants? Probably not, and I don't know very much about seedlings... I thought this would be a really fun thing to make and sell so I can raise funds to volunteer in the Peruvian Amazon!

I can't say for everywhere but where I live the ink isn't anywhere near as bad as they used to be. That said they're still not food grade. It's impossible to really verify if something is 'safe', so if it's an issue then I'd suggest just using clay and soil. This isn't for OP of a seven year old comment but future readers.

LOL! His name is Seth. Woofy is his nickname! When he was born his older brother couldn't pronounce his name and started calling him Woofy (we don't know why!). He goes by Woofy at home and Seth at school!

Your mixture was too wet. Seeds germinate because of moisture and light. You probably didn't squeeze out enough water and they didn't dry quickly enough.

Hey :) I want to do that for my wedding but wedding isn’t until 2 months. If I do them now, will they start growing or just after they get wet again and land in the soil.

If you make sure they're fully dry after you make them, you can keep them in a box like a Tupperware container and they'll keep for around 6months :)

I heard that paper seed bombs don't work because they germinate when they are placed into the wet pulp. Is this true? Did your seed bombs work?

So long as the seed bombs dry completely after you make them they won't begin to germinate. Make sure that the seeds are not sitting in the wet pulp mixture for a long period of time, form them into balls immediately after adding the seeds to the pulp. Then put them in a ventilated area to dry. I threw my seed bombs into the field behind my house and they worked beautifully. A couple of things to keep in mind, make sure you are using good quality seeds (this is important!), make sure they are planted in an area that gets an ample amount of sun, make sure they get water. Francisca Morel Seed bombs are considered a technique of introducing flowers or plants to land by throwing or dropping them into soil so that they can grow. The seed bomb is made with recycled paper to protect the seeds and keep them moist while they begin to grow. Simply throw your seed bomb on some dirt and then wait. Make sure that your seeds get sunlight and water. Thank you for watching. Hope this helps!

Also seeds contain a lot of nutrients anyway to jump start the growth! they'd sprout in the paper once water's introduced but would only grow to a certain size before soil is needed :) I realise this is an old comment, just commenting for the people scrolling past!

They get their nutrients from the soil when they are planted! Seed bombs are made with recycled paper to protect the seeds and keep them moist while they begin to grow once they are planted in soil. Make sure they also get adequate sunlight and water. Thank you for watching!

Never mind this,just use sand,clay and compost w/ water. Roll the balls and your done. Why recreate the wheel.

i don't have sand clay and compost handy, but I do have old coloured card easily available! so this way works much better for me! Can also make lots of different coloured seed bombs too!
