What a beautiful beautiful cat and thats a great stepping stone 🐈🐈🐈
Thank you Tanya for another wonderful idea.
That mix was way too dry, but I love your idea with the white paint on the back of the stones that is genius!
brilliant idea keep them coming hope your bees are well.
Really beautiful! Great idea on spray painting the back of the glass first! 😍 I'm thinking the reason some of the glass comes out is because you are dabbing the water out with TP. The excess water has cement in it that will bond to the glass and hold it together better, and allow the concrete to cure properly via slower surface evaporation-when you wick it out, it might cure the top too quick. The watery concrete is easy to scrape off of the outside of the glass with a nail if the cement is too high. Maybe try leaving the fine cementy water on top next time? That might help? Great tip on curing for about a week-sounds perfect for best results. Same with reinforcing with wire. I'm thinking you will have them for a very long time. Awesome ideas-thanks!!!!🥰
Lovely, thank you for sharing!
Thank You! I wanted to make something beautiful & I LOVE your creation! Thanks fornthe inspiration & great to see how well it has held up a few years later!

Welcome :) Have a fun time making it!
This was so cool! Thank you
Beautiful! I highly recommend wearing vinyl or nitrile exam gloves while working with cement, as it's caustic.
I love it so much! Many thanks for sharing it :-D

It really works to highlight the color of each piece of sea glass. It's been several years since I made the first one now and it's still sparkling and beautiful.
That sounds really cool
so interesting thanks so much
Great video. Thanks a lot!
Beautiful ❤
Wish we had that much sea glass where I live!

Good video..thank you for sharing
I have a cat just like that, they're very smart. He is the 3rd Russian Blue I've had, and they are much smarter than average cats. Pretty stepping stone! It's not slippery?
This is so awesome. Loved and Subbed. Great video.

HI! Love your video. Question: why not just use concrete? Why add the rocky stuff? Don't you want a smooth surface to put your stones into?

In effect she made her own concrete by mixing cement and coarse aggregate. Premixed concrete will work well. And cement on its own will be smoother, but not as strong as concrete.
MUY LINDO 😚😚😚😚
New subbie! Love the videos. I’ve found loads of beach glass in Lake Erie , Ashtabula county. I’m not near the ocean- yet!

Lake Erie sea glass! Love it
Nice video.
If the dirt around the stone's periphery is packed tighter, it won't wobble as much when stepped. Can also concave out the dirt in the middle to remove any center pivoting.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Our cats could be twins btw, he/she is beautiful.

I'm not the type to get fancy pedigree cats but their personalities are so sweet and loyal. They're pretty cute too, much like your sweet kitty I'm sure :)
This looks great! But I wonder if anyone can suggest a more environmentally friendly substitute for the concrete?
Can I leave it outside during winter?
Amazing! Makes me think that you must be an art teacher.

An old builder's trick that will help is to mix a squirt of PVA glue in the water you use.

Use white cement. It's used a lot here in Mexico.
I love't
Will the varnish eventually yellow?
I'm not sure where you live, but would these last through harsh winters like we sometimes get here in Canada?
Question: How did it go from dry-looking when you were tamping it down, to moist-looking when you were laying the stones in it? (Between 3:33 and 3:35.)

She spray painted it sliver she said. So that's why it looks wetter
The supply list included "clear glossy spray paint"; however, the last step was to spray w/very glossy varnish. Is the varnish an additional item needed or is the same as the clear spray paint?

You didn't prep you pan with cooking spray or some sort of oil?
@Lovelygreens

I didn’t but it wouldn’t hurt to do so. Cement doesn’t tend to stick to clean and dry stainless steel in my experience. Unless there’s dry cement residue inside it! It sticks to that.

Its easy if you have a rock tumbler or can make something similar. Collect and break several bottles [be careful of flying shards] to give you a partially full container load. Add some fine sand and water. Turn it on and let the tumbling do its magic. Depending on the sand and grit inside, you will need to check it several times a day so you don't polish it too much or end up with nothing but dust. The glass is much softer than tumbling rocks to a high gloss so it will take a fraction of the time. Many times the glass itself will be enough to tumble itself into something looks what you find at the seashore. The sand will just cushion it and give you a better smoothing.
What size pan did you use?

You can use whatever pan you wish. This one was 15"
What did u spray paintvthe sea glass with? Paint or primer? Pls explain???

Underneath it's just ordinary white spray paint. On top, it's a clear spray paint for outdoor use.

But was it matte or glossy? Ty!
If you brush your mold with used car oil before adding mix...It pops right out. Painting your concrete mix is fouling your curing process. A piece that small 48hrs or less, pop it out of the mold.
I wonder what a candy or flake paint color would make it look like.
@Lovelygreens
5 жыл бұрын
Probably muddled... The white paint is to set off the natural colour of the sea glass. Any other colour would mix with the tint of the glass.

How about painting the background white so you don't have to ruin the glass
@Lovelygreens
Ай бұрын
You can't paint wet concrete white. Besides, the sea glass is not ruined by painting it. I've had my sea glass stepping stones for years and love them.
i also have this stones can somebody pay money for this stones to me
