Really beautiful! Great idea on spray painting the back of the glass first! 😍 I'm thinking the reason some of the glass comes out is because you are dabbing the water out with TP. The excess water has cement in it that will bond to the glass and hold it together better, and allow the concrete to cure properly via slower surface evaporation-when you wick it out, it might cure the top too quick. The watery concrete is easy to scrape off of the outside of the glass with a nail if the cement is too high. Maybe try leaving the fine cementy water on top next time? That might help? Great tip on curing for about a week-sounds perfect for best results. Same with reinforcing with wire. I'm thinking you will have them for a very long time. Awesome ideas-thanks!!!!🥰

  • @mauritsvw

In effect she made her own concrete by mixing cement and coarse aggregate. Premixed concrete will work well. And cement on its own will be smoother, but not as strong as concrete.

If the dirt around the stone's periphery is packed tighter, it won't wobble as much when stepped. Can also concave out the dirt in the middle to remove any center pivoting.

I didn’t but it wouldn’t hurt to do so. Cement doesn’t tend to stick to clean and dry stainless steel in my experience. Unless there’s dry cement residue inside it! It sticks to that.

Its easy if you have a rock tumbler or can make something similar. Collect and break several bottles [be careful of flying shards] to give you a partially full container load. Add some fine sand and water. Turn it on and let the tumbling do its magic. Depending on the sand and grit inside, you will need to check it several times a day so you don't polish it too much or end up with nothing but dust. The glass is much softer than tumbling rocks to a high gloss so it will take a fraction of the time. Many times the glass itself will be enough to tumble itself into something looks what you find at the seashore. The sand will just cushion it and give you a better smoothing.

If you brush your mold with used car oil before adding mix...It pops right out. Painting your concrete mix is fouling your curing process. A piece that small 48hrs or less, pop it out of the mold.

  • @Lovelygreens

Probably muddled... The white paint is to set off the natural colour of the sea glass. Any other colour would mix with the tint of the glass.
