This rum recipe is awesome, and it tastes great. Be sure to try this rum recipe it is easy to make with just a few ingredients. Blackstrap molasses of sugar cane. In sugar refining, molasses is separated from the sugar crystals after each of three boiling or extraction processes that sugar cane goes through. The third and final separation is called blackstrap. Rum is a distilled alcoholic drink made by fermenting then distilling sugarcane molasses or sugarcane juice. The distillate, a clear liquid, is usually aged in oak barrels. Most rums are produced in Caribbean and American countries, but also in other sugar producing countries, such as the Philippines and India. Rums are produced in various grades. Light rums are commonly used in cocktails, whereas "golden" and "dark" rums were typically consumed straight or neat, iced ("on the rocks"), or used for cooking, but are now commonly consumed with mixers. Premium rums are made to be consumed either straight or iced.

Right to the point! That’s all I needed! The only video that just shows you how! Thanks a ton man !
I've been looking for a rum recipe for a few hours and I instantly knew this was the one for me when he said "You don't want sulfured, if you can choose. I mean if you have to, fuck it"
I saw some better looking videos, but after seeing the thumbnail of this videos and watching for 30 seconds I knew this man was an expert
Thanks. This has been the most helpful 'how to make rum' video without all the BS on you tube ..Much appreciated.
I love your measuring technique.
Thanks man you guys are helping me a lot. I’m getting ready to give it a go for the first time.
I used 1/2 gallon of molasses and 8 lbs of raw sugar in enough spring water to make a 5 gallon wash. I ended up with almost 1 3/4 gallons of proofed down to 75 proof rum. I made half into coconut rum and the rest with medium toasted maple chips, which made a wonderful golden brown rum!! If you use dady yeast, you don't need 2 -3 weeks!! It will work off in less than a weeks time!!
Excellent videos. You've helped so much. Thx
I've always been shocked at the price of rum. What a cash machine for the brewers. It's cheap to make! Thanks mate.
You can add 1 to 2 tablespoons of glycerin per gallon of finished product to tame that burn down a bit. It’ll smooth it out so the flavor of the product comes through more prominently.

did mine exactly how you did yours last year using turbo yeast and man did it come out strong! almost blew the lid off when fermenting too- lol
You measure sugar like the rest of us measure garlic, and I’m living for it 🤣
Love the absolute precise, scientific approach. Taditionaly the brewer/distiller would use what ever was at hand and as much as the container & brew would tolerate. Great vid!!!!!

I'm a home brewer. I usually brew IPA's & pale ales. I've been thinking about trying some distilling. I've never done it before. I'm not much of a liquor drinker, but I do enjoy a glass of rum & coke every once in a while. Great video brother. Very instuctive.
Looking forward to that getting aged and seeing how you spice it. Going traditional or something adventurous like one of your wonderful wines.

I would make a corn liquor and add some 5 star anice spice to it during distillation, and then keep it in a jar with some charred oak for about 2 months. When i was a kid around Christmas my Dad would make an italian drink with Anise liquor, and gin it was overkill as far as black licorice goes i hated it but would drink it all because i was a little drunk, he used to get pissed because every time he checked the cabinet i had drank it all i was 14 lol.
What steam is coming from the fermenting bucket before it goes into the distiller or did i miss something ?

Heck yeah i probably won't ever use that still again, i have been making copper columns that go on top of kegs, and there just aint no going back, the liquor comes out cleaner, stronger, and having a thumper is awesome when you wanna add flavor. I have considered modifying the one i have to go to a thumper, would be very easy, if i do it i will make a video of it.

Also the head of that still will bolt on to keg for anyone who wanted to do a bigger batch who has the 8 gallon. A keg is 15 gallons and accommodates a 10 gallon mash, i will make a video about this soon also lol. Copper mesh is good to use.

A cheap source of molasses is from your local Farmers CO-OP. I got 10gal for $34. Just make sure that it doesn't contain any fungicides
I picked up my unsulfured molasses from my local feed mil it as super cheap. i bought 300 bs of grain and molasses mixed and it cost m 65 bucks. but I just tried my molasses and I cant get my yeast to kick off... not sure hat i did

Dude im a Distilller and i came across this video. Most of the things you made are siimilar to the stuff i do. 😎 We mix a tank with molasses. we wait 3 days for fermentation to process to finish. Its 7 tanks btw After that we start cooking the liquid on pot stils. The temp. that we use ranges from 185 - 190 degrees. I was never a science major but daam in this industry you'll learn alot trust me. Took me years to master this craft. And im just 27 years old 🤠

Hey sweetness try using pure coconut sugar mmm the taste is so good
When i did rum with black strap i aged it for a year with pineapple and licorice root which gives flavor and foaminess when mixed with coke like Coruba rum. The ageing was essential as taste like dog balls before aging.

@@philbillymoonshine7356 I'm curious if you have tried using some form of sprouted grain to add into the molasses wash as opposed to packets of dry yeast? I saw on Moonshiners that packaged yeast (as opposed to naturally occurring in sprouted grain) is what gives you the hangovers...is that true?
@philbillymoonshine7356
3 жыл бұрын
@Nobody You can use bread yeast but it is better to use wine, it works better at making alcohol. You can get wine yeast and feed it like you would a sour dough i would imagine if you did it right you could keep it alive forever. Best bet would be buying a packet of wine yeast but if shtf and there was none left to be had then everyone would be using flour, or potatoes to make yeast.

I ran this exact recipe and when I distilled it, the end product came out a little brown and murky. Any thoughts as to why that is? My corn products were coming out clear.
@philbillymoonshine7356
3 жыл бұрын
Something is wrong it should always be clear. make sure everything is air tight gaskets are important, and also your fermentation might have went bad because if there is alcohol in it then it should always be clear, the only time it might start even being cloudy is when you have ran it to long that is why you switch out with other jars.

Why add sugar? Is not molasses high in sugar?
Go to a feed and grain store for livestock and buy the molasses there it's about a quarter of the price.
