I’ve been making my own DIY rose at home for about 4 months now. I too used bottled water and I add some oils (including a carrier oil) Avocado oil, VitaminE oil and grape seed oil. And I spritz my hair daily with that concoction. ❤️

Just a recommendation for next time, try and buy organic roses from Whole Foods(Whole Reade Gurantee) that have no pesticides and chemicals, but still wash them off first and use distilled water instead of tap water....basically DIY organic rose water!

This method lasts about 1 week. I've read the distilled method lasts about 6 months. I *may* try this. In general I don't care for the smell of rosewater. I may add Lavender flowers to see how I like it. Thanks for the inspiration!

This works perfectly I just made a batch following these your instructions thanks so much The only thing I did different was wash the petals off first because the flowers were sitting on the table just to get rid of dust and Just in case there were some kind of pesticides or anything like that sprayed on them because I am unsure of where they were actually grown

Thanks for sharing Dae. I actually made some last weekend. I used dry rose petals and I too was surprised of the deep red color. I used distilled water and let the water boil. Once I boiled it, I turned the heat down and let it simmer for about 20 mins. Then let it cool. I measured about 1 1/2 cups, but after the boiling, I probably ended up with a cup which was ok. I was nervous too about using it, LOL. I didn't worry about it staining my hair, but did about my bathroom! It didn't and I was happy. I also used it on my face which was HUGE for me as I am very particular about what I put on my skin. I liked it also and liked the way it smelled. Most of it I threw away yesterday as it was a week old. I will make it again, but only in a small batch as it doesn't have preservatives in it....not sure what happens after a week and don't want to chance it. Will try it with real roses though next time. I also use the Alteya Organics rosewater (thank you for that suggestion!!) but because of the price, will use that only on my face! :). It smells wonderful.

Bianca Majanja well I have had years to compare regular water to rose water and note how well my hair stayed moisturized throughout the day. I have heard of some where it did not make a difference so it does also have a lot to do with hair type. I have very course hair.

DaeLocs yes when you steam there’s almost no color in the final product. I wanna say it lasts longer too since there’s no organic matter in the water - I make a fairly big batch of mine and don’t refrigerate. Just used one yesterday 9/28 that I made on 9/5
