How To Make Roman Shades

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Ah, window treatments: They just may be the most overlooked part of a home's design. Designers agree they're a foundational part of any room's design (after all, they often take up more square footage than anything besides the walls and floor covering), yet they're often an afterthought in the design process. And while the daunting array of possibilities out there may have you resigned to just throwing up the simplest curtains, you don't have to! If you have a sewing machine and a drill at home, you can make your very own Roman shades.

    Hi Lucy, thank you for sharing this method. You make it so easy to follow, I had to watch it a few times but the more I watch the more I realize it’s a do able project! 😊

    Thank you for this straight forward, no nonsense approach. I have seen dozens of others videos where they spend a good deal of time waffling. Well done!!!

    Thank you for a quick and simple explanation without over complicating it! I’ve been searching for a few simple questions I needed answered before I start making my own and you just did that for me! 🤗😘 thank you so much! This is such a long time coming, I wish I could explain how aggravating it’s been finding these seemingly simple explanations answered but I can FINALLY make my Roman shades now! 😅 I’m one of those people who do better seeing it done instead of having it explained too me and in so many of the videos and tutorials I’ve watched on this topic, they tend too skip over certain details or draw it out so long you zone out and miss it the info or it’s an edit jump and you don’t get your answer. I’m so happy I find this video. Sorry for the rant I’m just excited I can finally do this now without screwing it all up.

    Hello. Thank you for your tutorial. It was really clear. What would happen if you made pockets for the rods out of the curtain fabric itself. It seems to me like a potential time saver but I'm not an experienced sewer so I could be asking for trouble trying it!

    Excellent tutorial! I have trouble with the Stitch Witchery not adhering to the curtain fabric, since it is unwashed. Is there another solution to this? Also, how heavy does the metal rod need to be? Thanks!

    Great video! You're the only one who showed how to tie the strings clearly. ❤ I do have a question though - is it possible to male roman blinds without putting dowels? Is that going to work?

    Hi Lucy, How did you attach the board to the window? If we use long screws from bottom to top it will go through the fabric but I’m thinking it won’t show.

    are you sewing the dowel to the face fabric as well as the liner ...? it looks like your going all of the way through both layers of fabric?

    Hi Lucy, I am Beverly. I am stuck on making the pockets from the dows. How many pieces of fabric are you using? Not understanding the video when placing the pocket with the stitch witchery I don’t see how there would be a pocket, stitch witchery is sticking on both sides.

    ugh. I wish you showed how to actually hang the curtain. Otherwise straight forward. I'm assuming when sewing the rings on you need to stitch thru the front fabric as well.It wasn't mentioned but I think I saw that's what you did.

  • @rhodagardner7607
    @rhodagardner76072 жыл бұрын

    Don’t understand. You have skipped a lot of things. Like after you staple to the wood, did you just cut the extra fabric off? You did not show how to attach to the window. You could have shown a lot easier way for the stitch witchery. I’ve watched this enough times to figure out what you left out and what I needed to do.

  • @kathyderouchey8221
    @kathyderouchey82212 жыл бұрын

    I've watched you and others melt the stitch witchery first on the dowel sleeve and then iron the sleeve to the lining. Why not lay the stitch witchery between the sleeve and the lining and press? That way you don't take a chance of melting the stitch witchery to your iron. That is a bear to get off.

    How can you have 3 rods when you don’t know the dimensions of a window, nor did you share what you was using as dimensions? How can you have only 9 rings, when clearly you used more in the video? Very misleading if you watch the details. However, hopefully the viewer can figure that out. I was trying to follow and said, what the what ?? Somebody needs to do some editing and proofing. Sorry, easy catch !!

    I see that she used 3 dowels and 9 rings 3 in each dowel going down 3x3=9 also if you look carefully she is sewing ring through front fabric and lining otherwise the curtain would not fold up when you pull on the strings.

    @@mariajurado8580 I agree. I made them. But, I did not go through all the fabrics attaching the rings. I made my own assumptions bc everything depends on your dimensions.
