How To Make Ring Terminals For The Big 3/4 Upgrade, Project Renegade Update!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is just a short Project Renegade update showing how I made and installed my own big 3 / big 4 upgrade for the charging system. You also get a bonus how to video! I will show you how to make your own ring terminals for 0ga. wire. Making these will save you quite a bit of cash if you are planning on doing the big three or four upgrade. Pre-made ring terminals of this size will cost you 1-2$ EACH! If you use this method to make your own they only cost about $0.29 EACH!

I use a chisel punch to crimp large ring terminals. That way the ends remain round.

Did you make a videos for the big 4 of the renegade ? I'm having trouble finding the engine ground

I honestly don't remember, I know that's terrible. I'll have to look when I get the chance. I believe there are 2 ground straps that connect the heads to the firewall. The main engine/chassis ground goes directly from the battery, down the block and bolts behind the oil filter I think. I'm pretty sure the engine mount is in the way of that bolt though.

Excellent video, and great idea! I have been putting off that upgrade to my jeep because of cost. Looks like I am headed to Home Depot today. Thanks for posting man, and keep up the good work! BTW, did it resolve the dimming? Did it introduce engine noise or any side effects?

No engine noise or any other side effects. This did help with the dimming, it's not completely gone(time for an Optima Upgrade), but at least it doesn't look like I'm flashing oncoming drivers anymore. This has however helped the charging system immensely! Before the upgrade I would charge at 14.1 - 14.2 volts cold idle, now with this upgrade I charge at 14.4 - 14.5 volts cold idle. Thanks for watching!

Might also want to look into a Distribution/Combination Power-Ground Block to help clean up the look and also remove all the extra wires you have going to your Pos and Neg terminals.
