I did the same thing on my ‘46. For those that want a more uniform look, instead of just concentrating on the cut/welded areas, you can primer the whole area, then cover with the vehicle color of choice. Finally, come back and wet sand the entire area being careful to not expose the welded areas and then cover with clear. This will take quite a bit more time, but the cut/welded areas will be hidden and the illusion of an original patina will be better. Overall, this was done nicely and it’s a fun project that I’ve done before.

IT WAS SO AWESOME CASEY, WATCHING YOU DO YOUR PATINA WORK AND SEEING THAT SWEET SWEET MUSTANG 🐎 that's in the background. Thanks for the patina tips! Great channel idea 💡 and theme, way to go! Anyway, thanks for the video 📸.

Love the way that turned out. Love those wheels, they suit the look much better than the other ones did! Have a great Christmas.

I do like those new nozzles on the rustolium. Cans when they work properly, but only about 1 out of 4 of them actually do.

You really should experiment with a rag or leather work glove to work the paint while wet. It just gives a more realistic variation or texture than wet sanding. I had an old Pontiac wagon with genuine 30 year old black patina, I fixed some rust and repainted about 5 square feet of it, using the ragged leather glove. I would challenge folks at car shows to find it- only a handful ever did!

The thumbnail photo is a local Ontario truck built about 3 years ago. It featured in Canadian Hot Rod magazine. I wrote and shot that feature. Nice truck for sure. You pulled off some convincing patina too!

Very cool. Ok question for you. I obtained a 64 mustang in really bad shape today for 300 bucks. Basically the floors are gone and the hood is creased. What would a good doner be for a first time body swap? Really not wanting to cut the car in half but i wouldn't be scared either lol. Mike c

If you find a narrow enough donor you don’t have too. Modern mustang will work (you’ll have to do flares) or better yet an s10 frame is as narrow as your 64

I tried the mix you used but realized the vinegar was just taking off what rust I could get started. Tried for a week with no real results. I was looking at my rabbit's cage and realized the month old galvanized mesh floor I had just put in already had crusty rust on it where it was pissing on it. I mixed up some salt and peroxide and pissed in the bottle. Bam. Had dark brown rust on the verge of pitting in three days. It's the ammonia. I wouldn't recommend mixing straight ammonia with anything but I had no ill effects using urine.

Have you ever tried just vinegar? I use vinegar to get rid of rust but if it isn't rinsed in baking soda water immediately after, it will rust right back up instantly
