Instead of using Avery labels that will stick to my canning jars that I'll use in the pantry, I wanted to make labels that I can laminate and tape to them. I would have NEVER figured this out and am so glad I learned just a little more about Microsoft Word! Excellent video.

Just thought Id let you know I've spent a good portion of yesterday and today disgning labels due to the start I got from your video. I like things to have labels. I spent a long time making labels for my computer keyboard (stickers to over the keys); I used labels to identify the shortcut keys I use for various programs; I'm just getting started (I use A LOT of different programs -- each with its own shortcut keys). I divided each label into sections to correspond to a particular program. Well, your enthusiasm for making labels has got me fired up to make my own customs labels.

What do you print the labels on and attach to different items? Hard items and soft items like baskets.

I know this post is over a year old but hope you can help. Love how your tutorial is in such detail. I have been trying to make primitive labels. The kind you see on old bottles. Love that vintage look. Do you have a tutorial for that, that is in microsoft word or publisher. I have lots of images, just can't get that aged look. They are usually made with a brown paper label & are darker around the edge.Some have a nice vintage frame.

Can you print them using clear adhesive? I want clear labels will it still work?

Thanks so much for the instruction! So very helpful!!!!!!!! I'm a newbie at making handmade cards and can use this technique for making sentiment labels on the front of a card (happy bday, etc). Anyway, was wondering if you could do a tutorial on using an arched banner (in Shapes)? I don't know how to arch the text to fit inside that shape. Also, in general, am having difficulty with the text fitting correctly (in a round label) even though I shrink the font. I've played around with adjusting the size of both the text box and font size - - but I end up with a font that's too small or the text box in cutting into any decorative dashes/lines that I've put on the second shape. Also, the sizes I'm using for these sentiment labels are small (i.e. the inside circle that holds the text box is approx. 1" up to 1 1/4" - with overall size of outside circle 1 1/4" to 1 1/2". I use a PC (Microsoft Word). Thanks if you can give any advice - and again, thanks for doing this tutorial -it's sooooo appreciated!

Abby, question. Once you have created the labels, what is the next step you do in order to make them with a sticker type background? Are you actually printing them on Avery labels or using some type of machine? Thanks for any advice.

I'm sure you know by now,, but I can't stand to see unanswered questions. You should be able to print the labels just like you print a document. I believe you choose File and select Print in the menu that drops down.

Also, the same goes for saving the file. Click on File first, then select save or save as and you'll be asked to name the file.

what type of labels should i buy if i make a round label on word? how do i know what type to buy based on what i create on word? and where do i buy them? im clueless can someone help me figure this out? please, thank you

If you have to print a specific size label anyway, why not just start with the label format instead of all this layering & moving the design. The label format lays your page out with sections for each label. I find this video confusing

How do you attach them to your containers?

What type of word. Office 365, office and home or student or professional?

Thanks I figured out how to do it using Pages

Made the label and don't see how to print it. I have sheets of labels, I just don't see how to print this. When I go into print and go into label there is no way this label in WORD shows up in the box for printing the label.

What if I want to print on sheets of round labels? How does that work?
