The riper the better? My fruit bowl has been prepared for this its entire life.

If it's not that ripe, try frying them in coconut oil, it's amazing!🤤
"They will taste delicious EVEN if they are slightly black on the edges." I would only eat them if they had black edges.

As a Salvadorian-American with parents who never taught me Spanish, or any recipes, videos like these help me a lot while trying to recognize my culture, they turned out amazing! I also used avacado oil instead for a healthier balance! I appreciate your channel so much! Thank you!

I usually have to go to a Salvadorian restaurant to get my fried plantain fix. One restaurant I go to has a breakfast plate of fried over easy eggs, refried beans with queso fresco and fried plantains with Salvadorian crema. I'm Mexican American, so I never grew eating plantains, but I love them. Thanks for posting, I just subscribed to your channel.

Rice and beans with platanos maduros is absolute heaven.
I had a plantain and made platanos maduros watching Margaret's video. Thanks so much for posting. ❤My response to those worried about calories and artery clogging ingredients--eat lettuce. Some Americans get fat because they eat too much processed food. Sugar is not bad you. Eating too much is. Home cooking done right and daily exercise is the key. Colonialism and capitalism and corporate farming ruined eating farm to table or garden to table.

Thank you for being a video that finally talks about how ripe the plantains should be. I feel like that's the most important, and often mistaken part, but never gets talked about.

Thanks for the great video! I have a ways to go before my plantains aren’t green so I’ll have to revisit this most excellent video! Since I’m here, I’ll request that you make a video on how to make Spaetzle.
Omg ..im so.hungry now...those are perfectly browned.
You can also ripen plantains by putting them in the oven whole for about 5 to 7 mins

Love the video and great tips for tonight's sweet plantains. 😍 Any chance you can teach up about how to cook cuban style pork shoulder for a cuban sandwich?
I work at a Porto’s bakery, and our meals come served with either fried mariquitas or Maduros. Yesterday was my first time trying the maduros (after working there for a year) and my gosh are they amazing!!! I have some bananas that are browning and I usually use those for protein shakes. Screw protein shakes, I’m frying up some maduros 🥰 Thanks for this recipe!!🤎🤎

It's also good with sweet milk drizzled on them!! Nommmms!
My father served in the military in panama canal zone before I was born in 1955. My sister was born on the military base. My father told me that if ever I can eat this delicious Panamanian dessert called fried plantains, I should do it. He loved that dessert. He said he has seen it made with bananas, but it’s not the same…Totally different fruit.
Perfect 😁
