I love it!!! Plarn bags are super nice because you can have things like sunglasses and stuff in them and it doesn’t snag just like regular yarn would! It’s also FREE and it saves a couple bags from the landfill!

“for free” would be if the plastic bags themselves were still free. idk about other countries but the UK has really cracked down on the overconsumption of flimsy plastic shopping bags in major shops. they’re not free anymore. they went from costing just a couple pennies, to still pennies but would very quickly become a few dollars. luckily the bags we have now are stronger and made to last much longer, encouraging more people to reuse them. although you actually rarely see shop-branded bags out with people and you see more “normal” bags with designs on them as they’re even stronger and of course just look better. overall better for the environment yes, just not for this.

wow that is amazing that will have to be decreasing the use of plastic bags by so much! (which is the goal :) ) I'll be doing more recycled yarn idea videos soon :)

What if you made an outfit out of plarn or at least a rain hat/ coat?🤔

Soooo many items come to mind (for upcycling)! All types of bags, clothing, sheets/bedding, curtains, table clothes, thrift store fabrics, old neckties (RELLY FUN ONE!), even socks and tights! Anything that has flex, I’m thinking! Looking forward to this series and hoping you GO EASY on your wrist! ☺️🫶🏻🧶🌻

Omg I hadn’t though if neck ties!!!! Or socks or tights! I want to do t shirts like you know how thrift stores always have old corporate t shirts like shirts made for one event like a marathon or bachelorette party? Those so often end up in landfills I feel like I could make so much yarn with them!

Making yarn out of strips of off cuts from fabrics or just general fabric scraps is great. I made an entire jumper dress with it and loved the upcycled look. 😊

*cries in Canadian* Would never be able to do this because Canada banned plastic bags like these years ago. We have to use terrible reusable bags that are still made of plastic material that aren't the greates material. It is a neat idea though.

That’s honestly incredible for the environment!!!! You can still make other recycled yarn tho! I’m planning on doing a video about tshirt yarn soon!

several years ago I heard of a group who used plarn to crochet sleeping mats to distribute to homeless people. The idea was for a mat that was light weight and could be easily carried around that would also help them stay above the wet grass or ground and dry faster than a cloth mat.

I've seen a few craft books that teach you how to turn dog or cat hair into yarn! Unfortunately, I didn't remember the titles, but I'm sure they wouldn't be hard to find.

My grandmother and I used to make plarn and use it to make sleeping mats for the homeless people in the community. And with them being waterproof it kept people off the literal ground and dry.

Not many, imo the album kinda decepcionated me:-( Before, i looked at the cover and thought "oh taylor is experimenting with something new and darker" but now that i have heard it, it sounds like a sound she has recicled over and over again. Sry, no hate😅 i don't hate taylor. I actually like midnights (the great war 😘) and 1989❤, but she ain't my favourite bc personally there are ssssooo many artists that could be more valuable when it comes to their sounds if they were the ones up there, instead of her. Like, they could be more refreshing for the industry, yk what i mean?

Love this idea, but we don't get these bags anymore here in Belgium. Could you do this with the thicker bags you have to pay for when you forget to bring your own bag?

Sorry if you've already had this message - there is a way to make 'continuous' plarn, which doesn't require you to knot it together. You get a continuous ball from one bag. There are a bunch on videos on here about it.

If you cut the bag in an open slit down the side (after top and tiling it) and then fold it in half, cut it on alternating sides almost all the way through and you'll have one giant loop.Then just cut that loop and you have one long strand. Look up: walk through one sheet of paper trick, for cutting instructions

this is so fun! i’m doing something similar but using hand dyed t- shirts instead. i’m making a turtle and each stitch represents 300 turtles that have died due to trash ingestion.

Eu por acaso, há alguns anos, fui a um workshop em que aprendi a fazer uma mala pequena para o telemóvel (era um android 5 portanto era mesmo pequeno😂) com tiras de sacos de plástico usando um tear de madeira. Um tear é uma espécie de máquina de madeira que pode ter entre 200 a 20 anos, se calhar 🤷‍♀️, que se usava muito cá em portugal para fazer roupas muito antes dos pronto-a-vestir aparecerem :-) É uma memória que nunca vou esquecer❤ Porém, infelizmente perdi o saco 😢

love it! off the top of my head the top/for my current mood my favorite songs from each album: Debut: tied together with a smile Fearless: forever and always (piano version) Speak now: innocent/never grow up (i cant choose) Red: begin again 1989: i think out of the woods (not my favorite album but still a jam) rep: new years day (my ultimate favorite song of hers) lover: the man sidenote: folklore/evermore are my favorite albums as a whole but im not sure about my favorite songs on them, off the top of my head i think exile and tolerate it midnights wasn't my fav i haven't listened to it too much so i need to listen to it more but i think snow on the beach is my favorite and off of TTPD black dog :)

The things I’ve seen people use it for most are 1. ironically shopping bags lol 😂 basically just making big reusable shopping totes and it can take a few hundred to make a big tote. 2. mats for unhoused people because it is water proof 3. Bucket hats! I haven’t personally but I’ve seen a lot to people make them and then lastly I like it for things like little baskets because it’s sturdy and wafer proof I have a little basket in my kitchen :) Oh and someone in the comments suggested a plant hanger for outside! I crochet plant hangers with jute but if I used plastic it would be water proof!

You could make old clothing into yarn.

I feel like target bags are my favorite thickness of bag. But I know what you means sometimes it can be weird when they change thicknesses. If you ask friends and family to save their bags for you, I think eventually you will have enough of each size to make plarn
