I live in New Mexico. I currently make 15 gallons of homemade soup for the homeless every Saturday for a Christian motorcycle Ministry called the Hellfighters for the last 4 years. I would love to learn to make these for my brothers and sisters that are enjoying the sites of Albuquerque a little different then we are. I’m sure they would love to enjoy their sandwiches and hot soup on something like that instead of the cold ground. We have t been Blessed with our regular weather this year,it has been crazy colds and even though we need the water out here in the desert 🌵 south west it’s time for it to go away. Thank you for any help you can send my way and God Bless all you young lady’s.

My father's family were ranchers and used and recycled everything. They grew up doing the depression so nothing was wasted. Wgen bread began coming in plastic wrappers my aunt used to make "throw rugs" out of the bread bags like this. We still use them 60-70 years later ❤️

Our church group has been making and donating these mats to homeless people for the last 2 years. The mats have been very well received and sought after. Every mat we make keeps 500-700 recycled plastic bags out of the landfills or out of the waterways and oceans where they are often fatal to marine life. These are soft and comfortable keeping a person off the cold, hard ground and better than sleeping on a piece of cardboard that can get wet and dirty. I have met with other churches, schools, Scout Troops, and other groups to spread the word and get them involved in this very worthwhile project. I've also sent information to organizations out of state so other groups can start their own programs. This is a nationwide and worldwide program that has been going on for 8-10 years or more. It benefits both the homeless and the environment.

Beats the bags ending up in our landfills and oceans, or worse wrapped around an animals neck. Great video and beautiful bags (no pun intended). Where can we find one of the yarn winders you have? Thanks.

There’s so many great things about this video. There’s the lovely ladies . It’s a great way for them to socialise and exercise their hands. Then there’s the fact that this is a great way for there to be less plastic ending up in landfill or in our oceans, killing fish, turtles and so on, and then there’s the mats for homeless people or those in need. I think it’s a wonderful idea and it warms my heart that there IS still good in this world. 💚💚💚💚💚

What a great use of a troubling product, which have been causing lots of problems for the environment. Fortunately, they are being used less and less. Meantime, thank you for doing your part to help the homeless find some comfort. My store uses the tan ones. I'm trying to bring my own bags, so that there are less plastic bags being used, but when I forget, I recycle them back to the store.

No! Don't cut the strips like that! Cut the top off and cut round and round from the top in a spiral. Then you don't have loads of joins. I've knitted and crocheted with bags. My grandma made hats from them.

How ironic... :) Everyone in the USA has about a gazillion plastic grocery bags. This great idea surely came about because these ladies were wondering what to do with the bazillion plastic t-bags accumulating in their homes....sure wish it would be cost effective to ship them to you! Do an online search for "T-Plastic Bags" I pray you will find a local supply.
