Notice how he changed from imperial to metric to achieve better precision.

You can use a length of angle iron to mark a straight line down a tube. Just lay the open side of the angle along the tube. It self centres because it sits on the 2 outer edges of the angle. Then align the edge of the angle with your centre line from using the tape.

Yeah that works well, assuming you have a good straight piece of angle kicking about that’s not been used as a pry bar!🤣

Using a square assumes that your end cut is square. Angle iron works better for this.

dont you want to keep that first piece, as a transition from straight tube to pie cuts?

Easier way to get the center line is use a piece of material that puts the sharpie at exactly 1/2 of the width of the pipe and just move all along the pipe.

I’m doing basically the same thing with a $50 portaband used in the harbor freight $100 stand (that I got on sale for 25% off). That’s a lame excuse.

Chop saw works too it just eats more material unless you have a special metal blade
