I am not an expert but I thought pulling the jump ring open that way alters the shape of the ring shouldn't you twist them

When I did this video that's how I opened them, but a viewer told me that was wrong. Now, even though I don't make much jewelry, I do it the right way. Thanks for watching and the tip!
