How to Make Oak Trees Produce More Acorns for Deer. It's Not What You Might Think.
Deer hunters know that deer love acorns, so we all look for ways to make oak trees produce more of them. Recently, deer researchers at the University of Tennessee tested the popular wisdom. NDA’s Lindsay Thomas Jr. shares the scientific results in this video. You may be surprised what worked - and what didn’t.

I planted one of these about 6 inches tall and in 5 years it's at 15 feet tall. I wouldn't be surprised if it is putting on acorns in 10 years. Growing fast.
Good to know I have many white and red oaks Thank you

You are welcome. Thanks for watching!
in the past, i’ve selectively watered some Swamp Chestnuts in drought conditions, using 500-1000gallons dripped at the base of each tree. has to be of some benefit.
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻

You bet. Thanks for watching!
I planted a native bur oak from seed in central Ohio in 2013 and started producing acorns in 2018…I’ve heard it takes 35-50 years for maturity.

Hopefully a few. Glad you enjoyed the vid!
I’ve been putting fertilizer in a coffee can (punctured holes in can) buried about 8-10 inches deep 5-6 feet away from the root ball for about 10 years. It works. Sunlight and room to grow is common sense.

@Mr. Cool Yep. The older the tree, the deeper the can.

You must have fertilized a lot of oak trees?
Too thick of a forest and you may never see the deer.
