Thanks! :) 1- I don't know how long it would take someone else to build the guns I build. It depends on how often you make mistakes or just how fast you work. 2- You COULD paint them, but paint never really looks quite right on cardboard. I find leaving it up to your imagination makes them look better in the end.

Go ahead and build whatever you like, that's why I made these videos! As for making an M3, the only major differences are to omit the indents in the bolt and add the charging lever. I think the rear sight might also be a bit different. I'm not sure I could be of much help with connecting the lever to the bolt though, that would take some experimenting.

The main thing I haven't figured out yet is how to make the lever push back the bolt. Its layers of uncorrugated cardboard. Usually I don't bother covering the edges of those types of pieces. They don't look too bad as is, but I'm sure it would be better if you wanted to spend the time doing it. Like I said though, I'm lazy sometimes.

Ok. It would be too hard to make these work I guess. They are still probably some of the best guns I've seen out of cardboard! You are too skilled to just be on KZread. You should consider opening a cosplay shop or something like that. You are LEGENDARY and... Magical! I want to make these but I would probably die trying...

Hate to be that guy but the guide rods are supposed to go to the back of the gun (havent watched the full vid yet so idk if he did that for the mechanism)

This is a non working cardboard model. I attached the guide rods at the front because it was easier to do so. Because they go all the way down the length of the receiver and you can not see the inside of the rear of the gun, they still look close to correct regardless. All they do in my model is hold the orientation of the bolt so there is no need to support springs all the way to the rear of the receiver tube.

@@generalkenobi4509 If I could find decent springs I would probably do it the way the real one works. Using a rubber band would be more complicated, but also possible. That said, I would also have to make a working trigger/sear to hold the bolt back. Again possible, but I couldn't be bothered lol

Actually the grease gun was a cheap gun that came before the Thompson m1a1.

As soon as the Thompson was adopted in 1938, the military began looking for a replacement that was cheaper and easier to manufacture. In 1942 the M1A1, a simplified and slightly cheaper version of the Thompson was adopted. At the same time, the M3 was being tweaked and tested but wasn't fielded until 1943, a year later. That said, the gun I made is an M3A1 which didn't see service until after the war.
