How to Make Music With a Noisy Power Supply

Музыка

The original 1 SPOT power supply has made such an impact that it has spawned numerous knock offs. Unfortunately, none of them have been able to match the quality that 1 SPOT offers musicians. After hearing the noisy output of a few of them, Bob Weil discovered you could actually make music without an instrument, using only their power supply. Check out this educational clip! Hear for yourself why the 1 SPOT is still the standard by which all other power supply units are judged.

I'm powering up my board with 8 pedals with just using a VS 1-spot for over a year now! simply love it! Another thing to point out is to also use a good quality patch cables to avoid any noise.

I've used these 1 SPOTS since they first came out and have never had an issue with them being noisy or undependable. I usually load them up with 2 or 3 pedals (compressor, delay, reverb) and find they supply enough power for that purpose. The narrow shape is a plus for plugging into power strips or an amp utility outlet, since they don't have as big a footprint as the usual wall wart. Check out the adapters, too, if you have an older pedal with only the connector for a 9v. battery.

Bought one of these to power the 5 pedals I've got on my board and got to say I'm very happy with it, works a treat and is very quiet, would recommend 👍

Im using a 1 Spot right now with two Pignoses and a Boss DM Delay using a Gibson Special with 2 old P90s. So its a noisy setup. But. The 1spot keeps it barely noticable and perfect when Im actually playing. So. Im sold. Good job

Uh.. I use a 1 SPOT and they're great and all.. but did nobody else see him click off the distortion at 1:48 right before switching to the 1 SPOT?? Of course it's not going to be noisy. Even the other power supplies weren't noisy with the distortion turned off! And I bet they thought no one would notice...

+countingcrows123 Because of the type of momentary switching that Boss uses, simply unplugging a power supply and plugging it in again activates the switch to turn the pedal on. That’s what happened at 1:48 in the video. The pedal was off when I unplugged the other brand power supply, but turned back on when I plugged the 1 SPOT in. I didn’t need to hit the footswitch.

I don't know about all of them but several of my BOSS pedals are also in the "power on" mode as soon as you power up the chain. Got to admit I would like to have seen the results when the other "noisy" pedals where daisy chained to the 1 SPOT. I have two of the 1 SPOTs - love them.

funny I am using my one spot, on only one one pedal at a time and it is adding noise compared to the 9v batt. I have tried with my RMC3-fl wah or my Timmy overdrive and I get some hum/buzz/ground loop weirdness going on.

I purchased the 1 spot combo pack that powers 8 pedals. What do I need to purchase if I just want to add two more pedals? Can a single one spot power more than 8 pedals?

  • @TruetoneFX

Justin, a 1 SPOT can power many more than 8 pedals. To add more, you can add an MC-5, and you now can power 4 more pedals. We also have an MC-2 if you only need to add one output. check out the accessories at Truetone.com

Can i power up my pedals with 1 spot combo? Can i daisy chain 1 spot combo to power up mxr chorus (18v) strymon sunset dual overdrive (9vdc)?

  • @TruetoneFX

    @TruetoneFX

No, you need to look at our Pro series that offers 18v and isolation which is needed for the Strymon.

What daisy chain were you using? Because I'm thinking of powering 3-4 distortion pedals and using them at the same time (don't ask why. lol) and I have a 1spot, but I keep reading that the 1spot (and its own daisy chain) generate a lot of noise with an high amount of pedals plugged in and also that the 1spot daisy chain doesn't work with digitech pedals (and one of the pedals I'd have to power is the digitech death metal).

  • @TruetoneFX

We are using our daisy chain. Daisy chains will work with Digitech pedals. However, some digital pedals, Strymon, modern Line 6, and others, don'e like being on a daisy chain. A daisy chain with a 1SPOT should work fine to power a couple of distortion pedals.

+Yvvie Marqu That is why we introduced the 1 SPOT Pro line, to address noise issues caused by modern digital effects that don't play well with others. Glad you liked the old name,. I know the new one will grow on you too!
