Honestly can't choose a favourite. All seem so important. The product photography definitely was worth highlighting. When I think about how quickly I myself will flip through products, having your work properly presented could be the difference between making a sale and gaining a new customer or not.
Thank you so so much 🙏🏽 straight to the point, accessible and honest
Tip 4 - "Avoid OOAK Products - This was an awakening. I pride myself on selling one-of-a-kind items. I'm not sure how to spin this. My tag is "you are one-of-a-kind. so wear you!"

and you website is beautifuuuuul! As I was saying in a previous comments to Llianne, it is still 100% possible to run aa very successful business based on OOAK, it is just harder to scale and more time consuming. In your case you could offer different level of customisation. Full custom or a collection where the only customisable element is the picture? Just an idea!
I’ve worked directly with a lot of entrepreneurs in the last few years to help them grow their businesses, and I have to say that your tips are totally on point. Thank you!

So many good points, Deb. It's challenging to get across the designer vs. crafter aspect of handmade items such as mine. I agree that one-of-a-kind items are harder to sell. Reaching customers within my niche is an important realization. I have adjusted & raised some of my prices and trying to improve my photography. Baby steps, but getting there. Thanks for your time and tips.

My absolute pleasure and thank YOU for watching. Designer VS crafter is probably the least talk about topic but the MOST impactful when it comes to marketing and revenue. So much easier to sell at a higher price point when the perceived value of the brand/shop is elevated. Congratulations for doing the work, baby steps are still steps!

I sell OOAK product, and I post pictures of the ones already sold, and explain to customers that they will get something different from the picture. So far no complains....

See that's what I will be going thru...alot of my crafts (product) will always be different than the last because each person is different and have different style and tastes...that will be my niche..and I wonder how that is working for anyone that do the same

Hi Deborah thanx for the very vey helpful tips. ! I have question about niche.. If u have specific niche would your shop also suffer in so little choices?

Thank you! I make handmade crafts. I was thinking like an artist and not a business person. I will take your advice and make many copies of my bestselling designs instead of keep creating brand new designs. Thanks!! #CastleofCostaMesa

yes! If they sell well, keep at it! You can also think of seasonal variations for those (colors, patterns, etc. if applicable).
Most helpful comment.... concentrate on one type of product. Not 4 or 5 completely different kind of items!

How many products would you recommend in a production collection. I use semi precious gemstones/crystals to make bracelets, keychains etc.

I'm just wondering, how hard it is to sell homemade wooden lamps online? I'm 17 and interested to spend my weekends building lamps. For example how much homemade lamps would cost? I already made one beatiful wooden night lamp and I used orange resin.
How do you decide what to sell? I crochet and sew.
@giselacampos4550

I sell my knitted and crochet wear and what i have found helpful is timing yourself while making a piece. Whether it be a scarf, hat, baby booties, etc. See what you can crank out the fastest and focus on that. In my case, I knit headbands the fastest and are in my case the cheapest to make.
Can I ask If I can be a member in yours? But I have no bank account or credit line? I am making Face mask and Scrub cap
Hi I make handmade explosion box, please help me as I want to sell online in India and outside.Your videos are very helpful specifically with pricing and profit
I sew things that women may need to make their life easier.. casserole hot pads, kitchen stuff, baby items such as bibs, burp cloths. Is that still considered in the same catering since my audience is towards woman and woman with kids?
So if our business is centered on one of a kind within a style, we should not sell online and stick to our profitable face to face sales??

Great tips by the way. Thank you Deborah. First of all you are talking in English slowly and carefully what makes me feel comfortable to understand as a Turkish citizen. I watched your Etsy videos before opening my shop. You're more helpful to me than you think. If you may have the time to visit to my Gold Locket handmade shop at Etsy, i'll be glad to hear some good and bad comments of your own. www.etsy.com/shop/solemarejewels Thanks anyway for your videos and tips.
follow trends? if you do that, you really have no sense of who you are, you're just another random person that is trying to make stuff. Either do you, or don't do it at all. Being carbon copy of everyone is boring and usually cheap.

I can see where you are coming from but I think you may be confusing the point of her advice. This video is almost exclusively about the business side, not the artistic side. It's not "how to be a better artist", it's helping you with how to sell online. Studying trends can help you tailor which of the products you already specialize in to prioritize or highlight so you can be the most profitable at any particular time. It can also help you pick pieces to add to your collection/inventory. Making a **living** as an artist needs to be a balance of both authenticity _and_ business acumen. You can't decide to depend exclusively on a capitalist system to pay your bills without utilizing some capitalism. She talks about how to use some of those tools to your advantage so you can have more success in sales, not your artistic expression. That's a completely different animal though they don't need to be mutually exclusive. You can absolutely do both but don't confuse the original point of selling your art: to sell your art.
