-Rinse, remove stems and seeds from chiles
-Broil cleaned chiles, onion, tomatoes, tomatillos, garlic still in husks and corn tortillas until charred and toasted
-Remove chiles from broiler before they start to char too much
-Place toasted chiles in a bowl, cover with boiling hot water and steep for at least 30 minutes or until softened
-Remove everything from broiler once charred
-In a blender, puree softened chiles, charred tomatoes, onions, garlic, tomatillos, prunes, oregano and optional chipotle chile
-add chicken broth to help puree if necessary
-Sieve puree with more chicken broth if needed
-In a preheated pot add 3 Tbsp oil and add sieved chile puree mixture
-Bring to a gentle simmer and add chocolate, Sunbutter, ground cinnamon, ground clove, salt to taste, sugar to taste and more chicken broth as needed.
-I ultimately use between 6 to 7 cups of chicken broth in this recipe
-Once the mole sauce is mixed well and at a gentle simmer, cover with a lid, lower the heat and continue to simmer for at least 30 minutes while stirring every 15 minutes
-You can serve this on top of baked or boiled chicken with a delicious rice on the side. Serves at least 6 to 8. Enjoy!

@@TexasWreckShop It really is. My grandmother used to cook all the time, and now she’s gone :(
Mexican food has always been my hands down, favorite food. But I have been too timid to try making an authentic mole', but you have encouraged me to give it a go with this video. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful gift with us here. Every dish you make that I have tried has turned out sooooo good.
My late dad used to make mole all the time, it was my absolute favorite, I really want to try making this!
You could be my new best friend. Mole sauce is my favorite Mexican sauce of all time. You just showed me how to make it in my own kitchen. Girl, I love you for this!

Omg...your mole sauce looks Amazing and Delicious I can't wait to try this recipe out it's one of my favorite dishes!!!😀😋🤗
That sauce looked absolutely amazing! I'll definitely give this a try. Thanks for posting.
Always clear and concise. Very down to earth, yet articulate. Oh, and great food too!
I tried this recipe today and it was really tasty! Really rich, creamy and easy to make!! No need for sugar if you use semisweet chocolate instead of bitterswee
Makes my mouth water, you still make the best macaroni and tuna salad, thank you! 😊
I love mole! My sister-in-law would make a huge batch of the sauce and put 3 or 4 cut up chickens in it and would cook the chicken until it was done. The mole flavor permeated the chicken and was soo good. I don't make my own sauce, but I do cook chicken pieces in the mole for that intense taste. This looks wonderful, but at my age and cooking for only one, I will not go to the trouble. I love watching your videos. They bring back memories of spending time at my in-laws homes and the wonderful aromas and food generated in their kitchens.
Man this looks. Im def gonna try this recipe. My wife and kids are gonna love this.Thanks. 😉
One of your San Antonio followers here-thanks for the Mi Tierra shoutout. I’ve never made mole sauce before; I always just use Doña Maria base in the jar. You’ve convinced me to make the effort though!

I just made your Mole recipe yesterday - it was such a big hit at my house! Thank you!
Definitely need some of this!! Looks delicious!! Love your videos!!
this has given me the confidence to try making my own mole - i always thought it would be long and complicated, but this is absolutely doable. mole is one of my absolute favorite things in the world, so this is very very exciting! also watching this made me so hungry, that looks so good 🤤
I made this recipe today and I was IMPRESSED at how easy it actually is to make by scratch. I never had mole before (I’m Mexican but I was a picky eater as a kid) and I’m so mad I’ve been missing out on this. 😂 This was so good, my sister enjoyed this recipe so much so this will be my go-to recipe. Thank u! ☺️💕✨
Wow ms G Mama, you are amazing, the first friendly Mole recipe I watch, ive been scared to ever make mole , this is just perfect
Wonderful recipe. Looked so delicious and tasty !
Bless you. I made homemade mole a few years ago and loved it. Lost the recipe, and the couple of others I tried were not as good. Had mole out of the jar a couple of days ago and dreamed of the real thing. This looks like it. Thanks and love your channel.
I made this for the first time this past week and my husband went crazy over it....it was SO GOOD!!!! Thank you for the recipe!!!
can i go over for dinner like 7 times out of the week 😂😂😂
I tried this recipe yesterday and my hubby LOVED it! He's Mexican and gave it 2 thumbs up! I also love mole and it was so yummy! I used Abuelita chocolate tablets. I didn't have ground clove and only had whole cloves so I used my "pilon" to grind it up. Also used raisins since I didn't have prunes. Your recipe states 6-7 cups of chicken broth but I wasn't sure if this was including the broth you used for ur rice so I ended up using 7 cups of broth for the mole only. After about a 40 min simmer, I notice it was still a bit watery so I added bit of flour with water to thicken it up which it did perfectly and it did not change the flavor.
My husband made mole for the family using your recipe. He used peanut butter and Mexican chocolate because that is what his mother used to use. I have never like mole but this was delicious! My brother in-law who is very picky said that it was the best mole he has ever tasted. Thank you for posting the recipe, this will be a family favorite for years to come.
Many happy memories of my Grandmother making mole for me! Love, love, love this! :)
Omg this looks scrumptious! I absolutely love chicken mole. I will definitely have to try this instead of getting the premade mole from the store. 💙
Made it last night ! Doubled the recipe it came out so delicious!!! Barely had any left

YUMMM this looks soo good! I will be trying this recipe out for sure!

I can do this!! I thought making mole from scratch would be a difficult task. You make it look easy, and I think I have most ingredients on hand. I definitely will make mole. Thank you so much.
So excited to try this!

I love, love your recipes! I’m from San Antonio and your recipes are just like the ones I grew up with. I just purchased your cookbook. Making your mole recipe today for a family dinner. Hope it turns out like yours. I’ve never made before, but absolutely love it - my mom used to make it. Unfortunately, she’s passed away & I never obtained her recipe. Thanks again!❤️
This looks amazing!! I’m going to try this sometime soon!
Me encanto la receta gracias por tu dedicacion.😘
Awesome!! I will try it NEVER DONE IT BEFORE and my husband loves mole
Have you ever thought about getting a hand crank food mill? It makes sieving so much faster and easier. Only about 25 bucks. I'm going to have to try my hand at this. This is one of the few Mexican dishes I've never tried, but it always looks and smells fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
YES, SAN ANTONIO REPRESENT!! I love Mi Tierra!! Such a staple!!!
Always wanted to learn how to make it from scratch. Thanks to your video I was able to make it and it came out so delicious. No more store bought Mole. This was better.
I LOVE MOLE! The end.
Wow! I have never tried this sauce but it looks amazing!
I would eat your food too🤷♀️ everything you cook looks so delicious😄... I have cooked some of your recipes already and turned out lovely thanks to you! Making your water recipe this weekend for a party!❤️

Love your explanation, muchísimas gracias mija
I've never had mole but I know I will love it!
Love your videos it's like I'm back home again thank you
Great ideas. For the chocolate our familia always uses Ibarra!! We don’t like our mole too sweet, but Ibarra is delicious in mole! 😍
I cannot wait to try this...especially for some mole enchiladas!!!
I 'm enjoying this so much....my mother' s kitchen comes to mind, thank you for sharing
Omg! It looks so delicious!
I just want to give you a huge hug right now! I LOVE molé, but I've been unable to eat it in many years because most everyone makes it with peanut butter! Since i hit my 40's I developed a high intolerance to peanuts. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU , for this peanut free recipe! I'm literally crying with excitement to try making this! Because of you, I make the most delicious tortillas too!

Okay okay I’m totally making this. Yum yum yum.
I love the prunes! I really don't like raisins all that much. You know, I don't even need chicken. I pour mole into a bowl and eat it by dipping white bread into it! Love your recipe!
Wow your mole looked so beautiful and I bet it tastes fantastic..love love love mole only I like dark meat..I'm going to try your recipe because it looked simple and on point..I just love your videos and recipes my friend.
I've never made mole...it always looked difficult! I'm going to try my hand at this instead of buying the store stuff. And Guittard is some of the best chocolate you can get!
Also I have a peanut allergy so this was perfect for me to find! I’ll be trying this this weekend!
Oh my gosh! A few years ago, I worked in San Antonio for about 2 weeks. & my boys and I literally ate at MI Tierra 10 times. My first time having authentic Mexican and I've been obsessed ever since! 10/10 would recommend
Looks amazing 😍😍 I've never made mole from scratch but, all the work looks totally worth the trouble!
Love it ☺️💕! To be honest I've only was exposed to those Ones they sell in the Jars at the store however I had mole from scratch once and to me it was super good. I will so be trying your recipe including the way you made the chicken and rice☺️thanks for showing us much love from Dallas Tx.
Yes we also love Mi Tierra restaurant in San Antonio 🥰
This is such a pretty sauce-and it looks delicious! We’re moving to Kingman, Arizona for our retirement at the end of the year, and I can’t wait to have better access to ingredients like chilies, spices, etc. I live in Pennsylvania, and it’s not always easy to find good ingredients without driving a ways.
Yay from SA! I can relate so much with your cooking because bullion is everything lol I absolutely always look for your channel first when looking up any recipe
Delicious, Thank you dear Lady....
This gringo appreciates this amazing recipe. I love to cook Mexican food but I’ve always been intimidated by Molé. Even my Mexican mother in law who makes the worlds beat Posole won’t do it. Well, I did this one today step for step. Except I used peanut butter and Abuelita’s chocolate. Simmered it at the end with diced grilled chicken breast. Turned out AMAZING! Now my wife is bragging on social media. THANK YOU!
Mmm I Love mole. If I never made a recipe before I usually use everything whatever the cook makes. I also Love both raisins and prunes. I look forward to making your mole sauce. The mole looks both perfect and tasty. Enjoy your evening.
Im allergic to peanuts and my husband have gluten intolerance so thank you a lot for your receipt and you have win another follower . Gracias 😊
😋😍😊🙂😇🙋 This brings back memories my lovely grandma made yummy mole for holidays and birthday's. Your mole looks just like how my grandma made it 😊😋😎. Thanks for the video ❤️ you made my day 🙏 😇
OMG Mi Tiera, I haven't been there in soo many years. I love that place. I need to make a trip to San Antonio.
I followed your recipe to the letter. The result was fantastic 👏 👌 Thank you!
Gorgeous💖 Silky-smooth
Can't wait to try it!!
This is AWSOME!!
Just subscribed to your channel. I watch your videos and I get so hungry OMG. My tummy is rumbling lol. I think you're an amazing cook. I'm going to try and make your mole sauce, I hope my family enjoys it. 🤗
I can’t imagine what this taste like. So many flavors. I will try at a Mexican restaurant if they have it. I’m sure yours is good!!!
I've only tasted mole once, years ago. Going to have to try this.
This looks AMAZING! Can’t wait to try it out. Does anyone know if the sauce freezes well?
I made this recipe today and it was great! Thank you so much for these recipes. You are my go to for Mexican recipes and you haven’t led me astray :)
I love your approach to this without the abuelita chocolate. Growing up my mom used Abuelita for her mole but honestly I have always wanted to try to make it without soo much sugar. Thank you! Do you know how to make green mole?? I have been bingeing on your recipes lately lol but I haven’t found one for the green one. I tried to follow another recipe on YT for it but it was sooo complicated and it tasted off of what I’m used to. They added parsley and I trusted them 😂😖
I'm drooling!

I saw this video last night, knew I had all of the ingredients and made it today!!! I don’t like mole (I’m Colombian), I made it for my husband (He’s Mexican) and he said it was absolutely delicious! Yay! I did a few things different. I roasted the chiles on my comal/griddle, as well as the onions, garlic, green tomatoes and roma tomatoes. I don’t have ground clove or cinnamon. I only have them whole. So I toasted the whole gloves and pieces of whole cinnamon on the comal very quickly and then just ground them up along with the oregano with my mortar and pestle. I made my usual Mexican rice and I baked the chicken breasts just like you did. The only things hubby said was that he would like it a little spicier next time and that he rather have the chicken boiled than baked because he says the breasts have more flavor when boiled. So that’s the only thing I’ll do different next time. Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS RECIPE!!! I’ve tried other mole recipes and yours is by far the easiest to make and according to my husband, the most delicious.

I just want to try everything you cook!❤️
I've been wanting to make this for years but have never been able to get fresh tomatillos in the UK. But now I have discovered we have a small fruit from the same species called Physalis that taste just the same! and I can find them everywhere! Like a little crunchy tart tomato. So if your from Europe or other countries look for physalis people! 💜😊
