HOW TO MAKE MODELLING BEESWAX 🤩 Easy Waldorf Homeschool DIY

Today I'm going to show you how to make modelling beeswax, this is such an easy DIY!
Stockmar modelling beeswax is so expensive so I found a way to make my own, for a fraction of the price. It's not perfect, it leaves a bit of colour on your hands but easily washes off.
Modelling beeswax is something we use quite a lot in our Waldorf homeschool.

I believe there is a kind of soap dye, so you could use that

Could you use watercolor paints or finger paints to dye it? When would you add that? I am going to try it and update if it works. Thank you for the video. I have a bag of beeswax and was wondering what I could use it for.

It's not food colouring but oil paint or natural pigments used in painting work the best for colouring waxes.

They’re great but if you don’t have them to hand then food colouring is a good alternative 😁

@@largefamilymama yes, of course. I was just responding to your request in the video for alternative colourings that don't transfer onto the hands 😊

How about using old crayons if you have them . Olive oil , linseed oil and petroleum jelly also seem to work . thank you for your video.

@@largefamilymama Personally I would keep away from oil paints, a number of which are very toxic indeed, notably cadmium reds, oranges and yellows, and also some greens, cobalt blues and other cobalt colours, and be careful that the pigments, if used, are not toxic. That being said, I am going to research natural pigments to see which are safe and available. Thanks for your ideas and work on making something both cheap and safe! I also like the idea of using olive oil. The good thing about using food colouring is that they are safe to handle.

You can use plasticine(plastalina) as modelling clay. Usually it's a lot cheaper if bought in bulk. Any particular reason for making your own with beeswax?

It's just a very different more natural medium. It feels different and smells different. Plasticine is great, just not the same.
