This version, inspired by the towering beauty made by Matt Lewis and Renato Poliafito of Baked in Brooklyn, features a graham cracker base, a dense brownie, chocolate custard and whipped cream. Follow along as the cookbook author and NYT Cooking contributor Samantha Seneviratne shows us how to make it. Come for the chocolate, stay for the cutest cameo we've ever seen (4:55).

I love her too but this cake is yuk
Articulate, efficient, no wasted steps, and with a couple of good teaching moments. My kind of cook. Give this person a raise and extend her contract. You're welcome.

I never see the description "articulate" used for Caucasians. It is only used when assuming a black/brown person should not know English.

@@lolacole5653uh…I use ‘articulate’ for the few articulate white people that I know, such as Claire Saffitz…But I know what you mean . Hopefully racism is not in play here.
Samantha is just delightful! She should have a recurring segments!

Thanks Hannah for the endorsement!
Finally someone who doesn't make a huge fuss about preventing a pudding skin forming. Some of us like it!

Hello
I really appreciated the confident, non-fussy (but still concise), accessible direction. Very inviting! And the cake/pie/thing...holy cow! Good call not adding any sweetener to the whipped cream👍
Echoing others begging for more videos from Samantha, she's so engaging!
I love her so much. I could watch her all day!

Hello I like look 👍👍👍👍❤️
It ranks as a pie to me. Baked crust and filling. Topping and whipped cream. Cakes are baked, cooled and frosting applied. Sometimes just powdered sugar. Definitely a pie. I have to make this. Thank you!!!❤
O. M. G. The moment her sweet, precious child asks how to “whiks”... 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Her voice is so soothing. Calm and articulate. More please 🙏
Samantha is fabulous. Articulate but non-fussy direction, and the recipe looks divine! Thank you.
oh my god her kid is so freaking cute!!
Every child in my hubby's family would love this--including the ones over 30!
That sweet little one - ‘how do you wik-s?’ Come on! (also looks like a champ recipe. And I love pudding skin too....)
Samantha is absolutely adorable (as is her child)! It felt like I asked a friend to send me her recipe for Miss. Mud Pie and instead of just sending it to me in an email she made me this video to share tips and tricks along with the recipe. -- I love brownies so this would be fun to make for something a little elevated but not too fussy.
this is a dessert abomintation and I AM HERE FOR IT. Samantha is SO nice!
She is great on camera and the pie looks amazing :D
I made this a few days ago and it's really good! Also not very hard at all, the only step I messed up is forgetting to set a timer for the brownie cake. (I'm 16 btw, and bake once a month or so, if that's a good point of reference) I'd recommend using unsweetened chocolate though, as opposed to semisweet (I assume that's what she means by bittersweet). It's what I did, and it came out perfectly balanced Anyone thinking about making this feel free to ask me any questions haha, and I'll try my best to answer them
i can vouch for this recipe. i made this over the holidays and it was a huge hit. not too sweet but delivers 100% on the flavor. wonderful! my husband who is not a sweets person ravaged his slice of the pie and went back for 2nds. i would say this recipe was a success!
What an articulate, efficient instructor....thanks for the demo and recipe.

That is not what I know to be a Mississippi mud pie, but it looks absolutely delicious no matter what it’s called! Chocoholic heaven
Samantha is such a delight! I love her videos!!
The beginning blooper moment was the best part. Lol Great recipe and video!
A really simple (yet long) recipe that anyone can do. Thank you for sharing it with us. If I ever made it I think I would make a vanilla or banana pudding instead of chocolate.
I love watching her bake! I tried this recipe and it's amazing! So decadent and delicious!
Definitely delicious! It’s going to be a big hit in my family!!! Thanks for sharing!

This is truly one of the best desserts I have ever made. The super rich chocolate cut by the salty crust and fresh cream ughhh so good
love her!
Samantha is awesome, would love to see her in more videos!
Love Samantha!
This pie cake looks sooo rich, it reminds me of Rachel Khoo’s pudding based chocolate mousse (chocolate pudding, melted chocolate then lightened with cream and egg whites). It is chooocolateeey!
Oh my. "How you whiks?" My ovaries just exploded.
Definitely want to make this
oh I love her, that was so fun!
I'm so proud of her as a Sri Lankan myself! Amazing!

shes adorable and so nice and i love her so much !! whats her youtube channel i need to binge on her videos ❤️❤️
Love her!? Give us more!
Why doesn't this channel have more suscribers? I don't get it.
The purpose of folding the egg whites in is to keep the air in...using a whisk beats out all the air you just put in
Gorgeous
If it fits with Samanthas life style and if she would love it too. I think many would love it if Samatha could get more screen time.
Any suggestions on the brand of the bitter sweet chocolate that I can use for this recipe? Something available in Canada or the US.
Awesome recipe! Wonder if it would work with orange and chocolate? Or salted blonde chocolate?
Holy moly
Who is this adorable creature? 😍😍😍
I cannot believe you used A WISK TO FOOOOLD IN THE MERINGUE
No, no, no. Not every dessert idea is a dessert, dessert should be difficult and sumptuous, I still love Samantha.
