Changing the roundabout road to highway will remove the parking and crosswalks. Completely vanilla compatible.

Hey Biffa, Loving the series! "Past Biffa" set the Oil district to also be an oil industry area so that you could set some industry down in the places without oil. You went and kinda messed your plan up at 16:25 making the district only cover oil areas. I think that the original plan is the way to go though. The factories are great but I don't think you'll ever be able to make enough goods to offset the massive importing in vanilla without adding significantly to your industry buildings.
5:22 That railroad bridge looks a bit low 21:21 No need to put those pumps so close together. In vanilla you don't have unlimited oil, that oil is going to run out and you'll have to move the pumps somewhere else. The ones you had at first would have been enough to reach all the oil in between the pumps.

Oil fields do have an open fire. They use what's called a smudge pot. It's placed at the end of a pipe from the gas separator that removes gas bubbles from the drilling fluid and burns it off. That's why you see deep sea drilling rigs with a flaming stack

The problems you had placing the rail lines at the start of the episode is exactly the reason why I created the Elevated Cargo stations. Obviously no good for this city as you’re playing vanilla but check them out and see if they’re suitable for your other build. No more traffic issues when the rail lines are elevated!
I would recommend connecting both of your new cargo lines to the rail in both directions to ensure they can reach every part of the city later on, otherwise you will still have trucks going everywhere
When reviewing the factories available toward the end, biffa said we’d have to get into forestry for a few…. But we are in forestry. ☹️ Edit: and we came back to it at the end end … thanks biffa

I've noticed lately that if you run one way train lines off the right side of the track whenever possible and join then back up with a two line further down line, you avoid most of the issues associated with train backup. Just food for thought. Won't work everywhere do to space, but useful when you have the space.
Pros of Tunnels: Loads of Space. Not entirely straight? Eh, fuggedaboutit, can't see it anyway!
"They'll get over it." - The Biffacorp slogan.
In the battle of sleep vs Biffa, Biffa always wins (it's 10pm right now for me)
ya need fire stations in the oil area. and maybe police and health?
and if you now find a place to connect your forestry industry to the railway, they could get the stuff even better to those factories instead of driving it through the city ;)
It's almost 3am here in NZ and I've just finished this episode. Biffa managed to re-edit most of the suggestions before the video ends. Awesome work.
Having separate roads for cargo stations that are basically useless for those vehicle that does not got to / come from the cargo terminal has one big advantage: the traffic route tool will tell you exactly which part of the city is served by this one cargo station. This helps to plan the locations of additional cargo terminals when one terminal becomes overcrowded. Having a little cut through instead of the 38:12 warehouse would make the road in front of the cargo terminal exclusive ...
Heya Biffa! That checks out: City Skylines freezes over and Biffa embraces the tunnels :D
hey biffa you forgot to conect the train line to the other direction as well 39:10 , your cargo trains can only exit one way if you leave like that, great video as aways
6:05 Kind of wondering if there’d be a collision between the road tunnel and the rail tunnel. If not, there must have been a steep slope…
@shizukaakatatsu22
2 жыл бұрын
I am wondering too. If you look at the entrances, the slopes seem to collide perfectly. Unless one of the tunnels has a vertical drop right after the entrance where the shadow starts, there is no way they do not meet in the middle. The train line would be far enough away so it could go under the road. But when you pause the video and look closely you can see that the road already starts to flatten out at the bottom right before the shadow.
Maybe put a snow dump in your oil area as well? Can't hurt, especially with all the roads and the area growing that quickly :)
You can use fences to block zoning from one side of a road, like near the cargo train station for example
Right on tea time! in some place in the world anyways!

Just came Home from School and a Biffa video is uploaded, perfect! Keep up the good work
You need to up your rail game now. At least 1 cargo station near the forestry area, link all three cargo stations together, and then make sure you allow trains to travel in both directions. The rail line at the oil area is only allowing trains to go in one direction. Instead of creating those triangular train intersections, I prefer going from 1 rail into 2, then on one of the lines have a loop for them to turn around. With a cargo station in each industry area and then then a loop just outside that allows my trains to get in and out between all of the cargo areas as needed and change direction quite easily. Loving the city ... giving me so many great ideas.
Ten-tea-cle station for the underground metro hub!
I love all these tunnels! They tidy things up well and you’ve more space for above ground things
30:40: I was all set to leave a nastygram about "Really, you're not going to give the oil workers a snowman park" but you came through . 🤣
I think it would help your traffic, as well as getting resources to the factory in the industry area, to also have a cargo train next to your forestry area. Though might need to trace the train tracks to ensure there is a path in since you only connected them from one direction.
OMG BIFFA!!! THIS UPLOAD MADE MY NIGHT.
Great job Buffalo, keep up the good work
Thanks for another entertaining episode mate 👍
Good name for the oil field could be TeaTree. They make a bunch of skin and hair oil based products for wintery cold months along with other oil based products for the rest of the season!
Another great episode! and I miss seeing Biffa's traffic fixes from viewer submissions.
5:22 lmao the railroad is literally touching the road. Snow dumps are more limited by trucks than they are by capacity, similar to crematoriums. It takes a bit of planning to actually fill a snow dump, which is required to unlock the Ski Resort unique building. The oil storage wasn't delivering to the plants because you placed them before local oil was available. They immediately requested imports, which effectively locks out local delivery. There is no provision for "cancel the order, I can get it faster now". You're married to the initial request until it's fulfilled or the vehicle despawns.
loving your work Biffa. Got CS about 2 months ago only, but building virtual urbs since 1992 or whenever. I wonder if you have tips for us on planning - from the beginning - for vanilla endgame: which map, which tiles, how to stay true to wildly unrealistic starting expectations, & stuff...

Nice Video!
Seriously Biffa… you madman! Your industry rail link built UP (blocking the factories and roads you wanted to build) to a bridge just to immediately go DOWN to a tunnel. If you’d just done it as a tunnel from the start of the cargo station you’d have no rail line in your way and the track wouldn’t be dipping down and zipping up like a roller coaster!! Lol
@stevieinselby
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, or after dipping the _first_ road to go under the railway, it would have been better to build the railway up slowly at a very gentle gradient to fly over the other roads and then eventually curve it round to fly over the highway.
the video launched right after my working hour, how convenient!
I think if you pop in a snow dump in the oil area it will help the trucks move faster with clear roads. Plus it's time for the city to need a road maintenance building.
I was so relieved when you finally opted to bury some train tracks :)
You are amazing. I never played in a Winter Map
Nice one, just as I'm getting ready to add some oil. Cheers.
Another great video Biffa many thanks for all your hard work :) I'm probably not your typical subscriber in that I'm 60 years old and don't own Cities Skylines. In the past I owned all the SimCity PC game and spent many hours on them. Now I'm retiring at the end of the year I want to get into Skylines on my PC but don't know what I should be buying. Basically I'd like the whole lot that you use but find all the different options on Steam confusing! I've searched youtube but all I can find for beginners is videos instructing how to build your first city etc. I'd just like to know which package I should be buying and which extras.

Biffa you just had a great idea in the episode a great name for a university on a snowy map... Brain freeze
I don't think that the trains are coming in after you changed the tracks in the oil field cargo station because of it being too steep. I saw all the trucks leaving via road.

Biffa, don't be afraid to use level crossings. They look super cool.
@shizukaakatatsu22
2 жыл бұрын
They look super cool but due to the amount of traffic that the cargo terminals produce (on roads and on rails) a leveled crossing would be nothing but a huge blockage. Biffa tried it a number of times on other maps only to eventually change it after the city has grown a bit and the traffic got worse.
@williamhuang8309
2 жыл бұрын
Generally, you only put level crossings on minor branch lines. I don't expect the roads and rails around that area to be particularly busy, and Biffa should've built a separate interchange off the highway. The main difference between the nightmare level crossing in New Tealand is that the nightmare crossing was along a major arterial road providing access to an extremely major industrial area with 10s of factories, a barge harbour and the main garbage processing plant. The oil industry area in this city is relatively self-contained and doesn't rely on items being moved from one area of the city to another. As I said, I don't expect the level crossing to be super busy, especially when there are different ways out (It's a good idea to provide multiple ways out everywhere). With a few road tweaks, I think it's possible to put in a level crossing without major backups.
It might be a good idea to put a bus service for the oil field.
Oil industry has the smallest footprint/ highest density of all industries. In my cities, this leads to critical traffic at 5*lvl when all buildings are as close as they can. Looking forward to learning if it will be any different here.
33:10 "need to get into forestry for that factory". Don't you have a forestry industry? You put it in before you even expanded across the river.
In vanilla mode your run out of oil and you will need to place new oil drills. Gray areas are good enough for drilling 100% capacity. Maybe move a bit of the storage to a white surface location.
yay. and I was trying to get to sleep too!
If you are not playing with mods, those oil resources will run out around the wells and you will have to start importing crude. Also, give oil trains the ability to arrive/depart in the other direction from the main line.
best builder
Just in time for lunch break!
Biffa invents the "snoil" industry.
Public Transport for then new oil area and connection of the two cargo stations maybe :)
The newer train track has white bridges that might look nice with the snow map
At the Moment the Cargo Train Station at the Oil Industry is only linked up in the direction out of the map. I'd add another connection into town. I'm sure they'll also drop their finished goods there and not only the owerflow of petroleum.
A road near where my grandmother lived looked practically straight up on a very steep hill. So some of those slopes aren’t unrealistic.
When those oil pumps went down, my OCD!!! 😱. 🤣
Biffa's oil district was land mafia grabbing land 😂😂😂
“Snowman factory” for the toy factory? To make little snowmen for the kiddie winkies to take to the snowman parks.

In biffa's world if your house is unhappy you get replaced by offices 😂😂😂
Factories not drawing from the closest available warehouse is such a pain in the ass
Ah yes... A Cities Skylines episode... all is right with the world once more... the birds are singing and sun is shining in all its glory lol
I now judge my own towns bad planning every day I drive to work thanks to this game
Biffa, quick question: How has the population been in Anarcteaca compared to New Tealand? Without mods, has it been the same, worse, or better? 🤔
Just have to say, that open train station at the start would not be very good for a winter region. Snow clearing would be a nightmare
biffa your forestry and oil industries are importing raw materials, build a few more tree plantations / drilling rigs
You should put the nuclear plant on the island near the oil. Nuclear needs water for cooling... Call it Tea-Mile Island
"heat for these lovely people" How do you know the citizens of the city are lovely?
In which Biffa rejects bridge, and returns to tunnel :p
"No problem at all." Biffa, please do NOT bring New Tealand into this! 😆
You’ve probably used this name in a previous series, but Texas Tea would be a good name for your oil industry are.
@biffa you have the playlist backwards... This one is after your mega, mega, opolis goal one with the cargo hub title
also; pot or bag, tea wise? (you may have already covered this)

Also, not a lot of demand for offices inside the oil industry area, they will be competing for workers -- if that is the case, better to fill it with generic industry (although industry specialized) which will take that excess crude oil and make generic (non-unique) goods.
