Cool! The slower a solution (or pure substance) cools, the larger the crystals will be. Melt and slowly lower temp for larger crystals. This would be doubly useful for Bi as the colors are dictated by temperature at which oxide forms, so you should get some interesting color patterns as well.
Those are some pretty cool creashtals

Protip: ideal temperature for the undercooled smelt is between 225° C and 200° C. Take a small crystal and touch the surface of the smelt (use pliers for this). Move the crystal around slowly. After a while you'll feel it touching something in the smelt, so pull it out a little, but keep some in the smelt. The crystal has grown, and with good temperature control will keep growing in the smelt. This way you can grow the really big bismuth crystals. The process I described here is inspired by the way silicium crystals are grown industrially. Enjoy!

Possibly to grow bigger crystal. make an insulated holder for your pot but in the centre of the holder you have a copper coil that water runs through to cool that one spot in the middle of the bottom of the pot. Now when you put your molten pot of bismuth into the holder with one cool spot on bottom centre the crystals will only grow from that spot on the centre of the bottom. after a few minutes you can still easily pour off most of the bismuth because most of it will still be hot. SHOULD be one large crystal in the centre bottom of the pot. I can not try it but hope you can since you already have the stuff to do this experiment. Thank you for all of your interesting and entertaining videos especially the one with the ICE covered Cute white Dog ! ! !!

I mean, they are for a metal.
I learned in geology that mineral crystals such as granite form bigger when they cool down slower as it give it more time to form. This might apply to Bismuth too.
So that's what homeworld looks like (Steven universe fans would know)

awsome. isn't it mad that they look like perfectly formed sky scrapers! it's like there is a "formula" for beauty, our best efforts look suspiciously like these crystals, but looks like nature got it just right.
