    Hi want to recreate this but what is making it stand I can really tell how the bottom is able to stand without sliding

    Hi! I'm so glad you want to try to make it!! I was also hesitant that it won't stand on it's own, but it works! I think it has to do a lot with the fact that I cut the legs on the bottom at an angle so the bottom plank is 90-degrees to the floor. I mean the bottom support is just laying on the floor. I'd assume if you skip this step and don't cut legs at an angle, it might slide. Good luck with your built! And tag me on Instagram when you finish! I'd love to see the final result:)

    Thank you! I’m very pleased with the way it turned out too😊 and it was such a bummer it didn’t glue together 😣 so kreg jig to the rescue💪🏼

    Joining two boards requires two perfectly straight and square edges. If you have a tablesaw, you can run it through the saw to take a little off both sides until it's straight. If an edge is really crooked, you can stick it to a straight board with double sideded tape, running that edge against the fence. The process of making the edge square and straight is called jointing.

    How do you keep the shelves from rotating around the screws? It looks like you only put one screw in each side, and I would think that the shelves could swivel! Awesome video! Thank you for sharing.

    That's a very great point, David! It WAS swiveling, especially when I put heavy books on the bottom. I had to unscrew it and added glue on the sides. That solved the issue! So far so good! And thank you for watching ;)

    So the shelves are held only by the two screws? They don’t have any additional support on the back side close to the wall? Is it secure enough? Thank you for your response

  • @IfOnlyApril

    Yes! It's been stable for years since it's leaning to the wall at an angle. If I did this project again I'd also use wood glue in addition to the screws. Hope that helps!

    Do you need to attach it to the wall?

  • @IfOnlyApril

    @IfOnlyApril

    It is balanced because of the angled bottom plank and legs. I didn’t attach it

    I think those shelves will tilt over time. There is only one screw. There is nothing to hold them level.

    That's a great point! I was also concerned about it so I glued the shelves to the sides! I did it after the video was made :)
