Nice roads. I don’t play warhammer any longer but this could still be used for nearly any tabletop game. Also love the new video layout you have going.

This is probably my favorite build you've ever done. I've been working out a way to make good roads for Gaslands, and this is IT. (with some minor modifications)

This size seems like it would work, with a few tweaks, for a two-lane 6mm Epic roadway as well. Something for titans to stomp around on. About 4cm wide for each lane, plus markings.

Ya Know, Wyloch, I have to say...your tutorials are on another level. The graphics, the implicit logic, the explicit directions, etc. Well done!

Wonderful result...I love that you used such cheap and easy materials.

I have been slowly converting your designs into laser cutter ready files and I'm just in awe of your ingenuity. Thank you so much for all the information!

Thanks for the vid. Good production quality, good content. just a note; to prevent the warping of the chipboard, spraypaint BOTH sides before you start - that will help a lot. thanks again for the vid.

And again, briljantly done. Could be nice to have a coherent connecting system for roads and buildings. Seeing some sort of old garage with a ramp etc. Really cool stuff again.

Congratulations on making 100!!! I wanted to comment on the music. It's great! the background music adds to the video making it better and more dynamic.

This is perfect, I wanted to adjust my roads and tiles for Marvel Crisis Protocol, this is more durable then just print-paper on foamboard. :)

Really nicely done! I like the use of foam and chipboard for the second version. I didn't know that applying white glue to the back of the chipboard would help to flatten the warp out. There is a lot of good information in this tutorial.

These are awesome, and as I am recently returnng to WH40k, I will be lookingto have a go at these and the buildings. 10/10

Use triangles of foam to build the edge of the raised edge of craters, then do the filler step filling in gaps. You get craters that can be used as a cover.

Great vid, miss the old music. Even though I don’t do modern/post apocalyptic stuff, (it looks awesome I just don’t have a NEED) there’s always a lot of great ideas and takeaways for for projects with other genres in your videos like this.

If you use dabs / dots of pva instead of covering it in a layer, it shouldn't warp so bad ... ;) great video !

Just a suggestion... I see this is a little older now, but with regards to warping, get your basic layers all glued up and before adding the textured detail bits (gutters, rubble and such) put a sheet of something over the hole thing like light ply or some such, and put weight on it distributed across the entire road section. Leave it to cure 2-3 times longer than normal then remove the weight and add your details. It's essentially the same process as layering veneer when making plywood, just on a smaller scale and with weight instead of a roller press.

This might be one of the best ideas I've seen!

Purchased the full set of truetiles a month or two ago... Was kind of the cart before the horse since my kickstarter is still manufacturing my 3d printer. They are months behind but it is okay, a perfected product is better than a rushed product.... I went with a CubiBot. I like making my tiles the old card board way.... and I like the idea of printing them also.. :)

Thibaud Collyn I like to make terrain too. Check out homedepot, they have a pink and a blue foam board used for inselation and it makes great mountains and pillars and all sorts of good stuff. Just get a wire foam cutter it is a god send. But that foam is the best. So versatile.

Question - on the T intersection, there isn’t a measurement on the whole sheet. I’m assuming that it’s a 12”x12” piece of chipboard? Same with the curved section. I ask because I buy big sheets of chipboard in bulk locally that’s the same thickness as the stuff you recommend. Love this tutorial, thank you very much!

Nice recreation of the old fw roads, if you like old Forgeworld terrain then check out unreal wargaming studios, they sell the same style roads, buildings and bunkers as fw used to produce.

For asphalt, I would just do the black wash much thicker so you get a near black finish but still some texture and variation.

Absolutely great. Looking at that modular design, I'm thinking you could possibly make a whole modular 12" x 12" tile set of terrain, which I'm now really tempted to have a go at. Do you think it would work in practice, i.e. 12" x 12" tiles using these same techniques?

Yes it would. I've never gone that route because I don't like to see seams in my terrain - I use a battlemat and place scatter on that. But this'll work to lock large tiles together.

also, don't know if you can help on this, a good many years ago, i had a resin bridge which came in three pieces and also had parts for the same bridge but as a ruined one. I cannot remember for the life of me who did it, wondering if you have ever come across something like i describe :)

What is the bridge way over top of the road in the title picture? Do you have a video for that? Very cool roads though. 😊

It's Necroplex, the 3D printable system. Love it. Checkout the youtube channels "Game Terrain Engineering" and "Steve's Small World" - they have done some videos on it. They are how I learned about it.

Hey, I have a problem with my cardboardlock-clips: I used the exact chipboard that you used, but it still frayed and some clips even bent and the clips werent usable anymore after e few times. This happened although I clipped the corners. What can I do to prevent that? (I used the system on some bmc-style foam tiles)

Best bet to stop fraying could be to coat your clips in PVA or mod podge and let it dry - the Coating will make the chipboard a lot more resilient than the bare stuff

Wait a minute, what are those cool black panels on the table at 9:14 ? It's granny grating with some sort of detailed border. I want to know how that border was built. ;-)

Necroplex, 3D printed parts. And I use the techniques that Steve's Small World uses (also on KZread).

what would you do for dirt roads?

To avoid warping, did you ever try placing the terrain pieces on a wet paper towel while drying?

It is because thw PVA shrinks as it dries

I really hope to start building terrain soon and you’ve absolutely exceeded my expectations. Ive been wanting to ask you a question, could you do some gothic ruins or buildings that aren’t so grand? Maybe one or two stories max but still just as epic and awesome? I’m well aware you’ve already equipped me with the skills to do this on my own, and I can just design the buildings to be one or two floors myself, but I’d love to see what you come up with. Also, I’d love to see your version of a noir cobble stone village or buildings with cobble stone streets reminiscent of Sherlock(1800s) or Brie (LotR), that would work for DnD but also wouldn’t be too terribly out of place in 40k. I also play warmahordes and this style of building would fit perfectly. If you’ve already done something similar I apologize, I haven’t made it all the way through your back catalog. Thanks again I appreciate everything you do!

Finally...

Why the random sized pieces for the gutters? They don't look very guttery to me. Am I missing something?

How much thicker, if at all is this "chip board" vs the material an American box of cereal or 12 back of soda comes in?

About 8 times thicker. WAY more sturdy. It's about 2mm thick.

paper clay would probably be a better material for that slope that you are doing with hotglue. mainly cause it won't melt if the pieces get hot.

Definitely. But I was going for speed. That's what I didn't bother with wall filler in the second version. But you're right there are many materials that are better suited for a higher quality result.

@@WylochsArmory I tried the 50-50 mixture and just pure glue.. waited until 48 hours :( sadly nothing still happened after that.. I was using a 1/8 inch chipboard btw

@@keendojino 1/8" wow that's really really thick. I don't know if using the 50/50 first might have hosed you up, with all that moisture. Try one more thick, undiluted coat on the bottom and 24 more hours.

Dylan Datta blu tac doesn't stick to neoprene very well in my experience. But if youre not using a mat, then sure

You sold the one you didn't like to your friend? I would have just given it away to my friend if he/she wanted it. No need to make money off of your friends with things you don't even like/want.
