i was about to start building my home studio here in my home in delhi.. was collecting material. Thank god i got to see this video, before i started building. Now all my plans have to be reworked. Best part is, for the first time, i got to hear from an Indian expert about studio building, considering our own building materials and their availability.. now, my hunt for his suggested material is on. Will follow this video closely while building every aspect of my home studio..thanks kapil n sudeep

The nice thing here is Kapil Thirwani reminds us a lot of basic principle of acoustic *and* takes practical element into account when giving advices. I especially agreed with his opinion concerning the use carpet on the floor. It is definitively a nightmare to maintain. And apparently not for such a great benefit if the room has otherwise a correct treatment. So the moral is, there is no magic product, and one size do not fit all. I'll go straight away in my recording room (well, in the room where I record ... when the kids are not playing in there ;) to identify reflection path and other issues, trying to find how I could fix them in *that* particular case...

at 21:54 he says the maximum air velocity is at the centre of the wave. it is actually at the zero crossing of the wave that the particle velocity is the maximum. take a pendulum as an analogous arrangement for describing a wave. the velocity of the bob is maximum at centre of its motion ie when its displacement around the normal position is at the minimum or zero. the velocity of the bob is its minimum when the bob is at the extreme ends of its travel. Similarly the particle velocity of a wave is maximum at the point where it crosses its mimimum amplitude. think of a wave as a giant rollercoaster. as the car travells down the coaster from the height it achieves its max speed at the lowest point of the dip and is at its slowest when it reaches the highest point of the crest...

Def could use a barrier between his hand and his poor nose lol. That was some good enough but I wish he would have tailored the entire talk on concrete solutions for small typical home studios.
