that's more music theory than it is technical execution... but my suggestion is basically use the four bar structure, or two, or whatever you use for your rythym section, and play your harmony and melody against it straight into the recorder. this is gonna take some trial and error and composition skills, but if you're looking for the Kendrick Lamar jazzy sound, like I said it's gonna take some composition and music theory skills to really develop that. sometimes the fluidity of jazz clashes with the structure of hip hop.

Does panning added with the velocity impact the dynamics? I hear a lot of snare rolls and not only does it sound like its coming at me when you perform that lateral trend with the velocity but it also sometimes sound like it coming from the left/right of me, which I figure would be panning
