If made correctly, DIY Hand Sanitizer can be helpful and effective in preventing the spread of harmful bacteria, germs and viruses. Washing your hands with Soap and water is still the best option, but when you don’t have access, hand sanitizers are an extremely convenient way to provide protection on the go!

How to Make Hand Sanitizer:
The World Health Organization’s Guide to Making Hand Sanitizer:

WHO Recipe (rounded to the nearest ml, and reduced to make 100ml)
• 75ml Isopropyl Alcohol 99.8% (Rubbing Alcohol)
• 4ml Hydrogen Peroxide 3%
• 2ml Glycerol 98%
• 19ml Distilled Water
My Natural Hand Sanitizer DIY Recipe:
• 70ml Ethanol 96%
• 20ml Distilled Water (or cooled freshly boiled water)
• 8ml Aloe Vera Gel
• 2ml Glycerine
• 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil [Optional]
How To Apply DIY Hand Sanitizer:
Spray the Hand Sanitizer to the palm of one hand and rub all over the surfaces of your hands until your hands are dry
Make sure to continue rubbing your hands together until they are completely dry. Most people may not use a large enough volume of the sanitizers or may wipe it off before it has dried.
The purpose of Hand Sanitizers is to kill germs, not erase dirt. Hand Sanitizers are not as effective when hands are visibly dirty or greasy - washing your hands with soap & water is the best option in those circumstances.
