This is a great recipe. I'm currently in the process of making it for the 3rd time right now. The only things I do slightly differently are to use a couple of bay leaves and 1/3 rd tsp of Thyme instead of the listed herbs and I add 1 drained 15.25 oz can of sweet corn with the vegetables listed. When it's ready, I let it cool down and put it in the fridge overnight. Next day, I skim and remove the fat layer from the top. Then I reheat it and serve it with fresh, warm, home made Peasant bread and butter. Absolutely delicious!
My boyfriend is sick and we have left over ham in the freezer from Easter. I think I’m going to try this and make us both a nice hearty soup for dinner tonight. Thank you for this recipe!
I don't blame her for eating the bread; homemade bread is amazing! Thanks for the soup recipe though!
I just discovered a hometown restaurant that sells the hambones from the ham they prepare - such a great resource, since I live alone and don't really make myself hams! This recipe is so straight forward and explained really well.
The part that "gets thrown out" is set out in the back yard for the critters that don't have fathers. Good vid.
My first home-made ham soup following this recipe, and it turned out good. Thanks for sharing this.
Your soup looks so god. I'm trying to not be wasteful because now days... I'm going to try your soup. My grandmother had a recipe, but I never thought I'd be making it. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. It must have been unnecessary extra work for a young mother, but thank you :)
Yummy! Thanks for the recipe! I’ve never even thought to do that with my ham bone!

Thankyou for sharing, it's so important to use all parts of a ham even if it doesnt have a lot of meat on it. Miss your blogs please post again soon. Hope you are all well.

Awesome video, great recipe and such a handsome family!
I ended up making some and it was delicious. Then, I made a second batch with the left over fat and drier pieces of leftover meat from Christmas dinner. We got 2 batches from our leftovers!

The outlet on the stove is pretty cool
The gelatinous bits don't have to be thrown. They might be an acquired taste but they're actually very nutritious and delicious for those used to collagen rich soups.
Great work here. You're one lovely mommy I just subscribed. All the best.

Soy sauce is a great way to add flavour. My son has a soy allergy so we don't use soy sauce.
